? About SFI damper and LT1 Crank pulley.

Most all LT1 SFI dampers Ive been looking at I dont think are designed to have the Supercharger crank pulley bolted to it. It appears that the hub is thicker with these dampers and would throw the belt alignment off. What is the common solution to this problem? It there a damper out there that is SFI approved and has the same hub thickness as the OEM unit? Thanks.

We used the ATI-917271 with the aboved pictured Vortech install. We had to redrill the supercharger pulley to to line up with the ATI, but that is all if I remember correctly.

Gotta have a custom spacer made if you want to throw on an ATI Damper, or other as far as I know..

ehhh eric, there was a little more to it then that. we had to space the blower out from the block about 1/4 to 1/2 an inch im guessing, it was like 4 washers stacked on all of the mounting bolts between the block and bracketry. works like a charm though. thats my motor he posted btw

Matt,
It didn't remember how much you had to space it out, but I didn't think it was anything too bad. I do remember we looked into having the ASP custom pulley made, but their timeline didn't work with ours.

Re: ? About SFI damper and LT1 Crank pulley.

If you have or are going with an ATI serpentine damper, then contact ASP pulleys. Tell them you have the ATI damper for the LT1 and the'll make you up a charger crank pulley. They have all the measurements and offsets and can make you the larger 7" charger pulley also. Mine is a perfect fit. No re-drilling or spacers needed. Bolt up and go and belt is perfectly aligned.

I know this is an older thread, but I figured I might as well add my 2 cents...

The dampner in the eBay ad is a Performance Products SFI approved unit, and yes it does have the exact same dimensions as the stock dampner, thus you only need to machine the receiver groove into it so that the Vortech pulley will seat flush and it is a bolt-together operation...

Nice thing about that dampner is that is comes with a billet keyed hub...

I have the exact setup on my car:

One thing to consider is that I needed to get 2 of these dampners as Performance Products had a bad batch of initial units shipped that had the wrong offset on the dampner itself for the accessory belt...
