crank sprocket

Will not flippin come off! Is there a trick to it or what cause mine seems to not want to move

You do know it's pressed on ...... right?

Sprockets pressed on? Since when?

I know hub is but im doing cam and if im correct the crank and cam sprocket should slide right off after cam gear is unbolted correct?

Regarding the "since when" question ......... for small block Chevys ..... I'm pretty sure ...... since 1955.

And finally, nope, the crank sprocket will NOT just slide off after the cam sprocket and timing chain have been removed. Again ...... you need a puller to remove the crank sprocket.

To add to this, you also need a way to press the new one on. What works well is a short 3 or 4" long piece of pipe and a crank hub installer set.

I always used a hub install tool (all thread) with a piece of pipe and some washers to press my sprocket into place.

It generally take little effort to put a crank gear on.

Like the others said, use a puller and maybe apply a little heat to it if it's giving you a lot of trouble. Installing was easy, I didn't want to bang on it with a hammer so I put the gear into the toaster oven for 15 minutes on high and it went on really easy with minor tapping.
