Voltage to data port?

Anyone have the voltage values that you are supposed to get to each of the pins at the aldl port? With the ignition off, i got nothing except for 12V to pin #16. When i turned the key "ON", i got 5V to pins 6 and 9 in addition to the 12V to pin 16. Does this seem correct?

It is correct, even though you may be looking at an OBD-II DLC.

It says right there in the pic above "Data Link Connector".

4 and 5 should be grounds and you would probably see 5v on 2 (again assuming it is an OBD-II DLC-you never confirmed).

its a 97, so it has the OBD-II style 16 pin connector. However, the car does have an obd1 computer with obd1 tuning

What kind of scanner are you tying to use? When you switched to the OBD-I PCM, did you do anything to the DLC?

If wired properly pins 5 and 9 are the only ones you need to scan OBD-I.

Not the brand... is it an OBD-I capable scanner?

Yes.... ALDL = DLC. There is a picture of one above, and you asked what the "DLC" was, so I thought that would be very clear.
