Angry GM Bluetooth Website Doesn't Work

I received the email from GM announcing the Camaro was on sale and it provided a link to a website to learn more about the Bluetooth features:

http://www.gm.com/vc/bluetooth/index...t&landing=true

The problem is that the first thing you need to do is select the vehicle and the Camaro is not on the list of seelctions. Basically the web site is dead end. Why include the link in the email if it is not included in the web site?

If GM can't test their own web site, I wonder how much testing was done to the new design. Not off to a good start here folks....

Well, all of the cars that are listed there are compatible with my phone (Sanyo Katana). Impala, Malibu, and Trailblazer support every listed function, and the rest support everything except three-way calling.

Since I pretty much never do any three-way calling, I am confident that Camaro will be compatible with my phone in every way that I care about.

I am in the market for some new cell phones for the wife and I so I wanted to see what phones the Camaro supports before I make my decision. I am hoping the Bluetooth feature supports more than just the phones too. MP3 file transfer would be helpful assuming the radio can store files.

For the record, GM does not build web sites, they hire other companies to do it.

I just checked and I don't see Camaro there at all.

Jason,

I was disappointed that the official email from GM announing the product on sale today contained a link that is a dead end. Attention to detail is everything! Since the dealers typically can never answer the kind of detail I am looking for regarding Bluetooth, this link is kind of important to me. I guess I'll wait to see if they fix it.

I agree, and they are responsible, but I can easily see this as being like this...

Chevrolet: Hey, web company...we will be sending out the e-mail, is the Bluetooth web site ready?

Web Company: Yeah, dude...go ahead.

*BLINK*

Chevrolet: Hey...uh...web company...the e-mail went out, but the site isn't working. We look like idiots.

Web Company: F***. Um...we'll get right on that.

Chevrolet:

Web Company:

SweetZRag:

Of course, that is just one scenario. For all I know, GM had nothing to do with it but setting a schedule and the web company borked the whole process. Or something entirely different.

Jason,

LOL I love the script. You should write movies for Hollywood.

I happen to be a project manager for a software development company so it is my job to make sure the t's are crossed and the i's are dotted on projects like the one you described. In the end, some marketing weenie at GM had the responsibility to make sure the marketing campaign (web sites, announcement emails, literature, etc.) was ready and dropped the ball.

Oh well, I hope somebody will post details on the Bluetooth interface soon so I can see what phones and features the Camaro supports.

And I have worked in web development, production, and marketing for 10 years...so I know the script well.
