Finally in the 12's, new best everything...

After a couple years of tweeking to try and get to 12's with the mods in my sig and not quite getting there I decided to actually do a few mods this summer.

I added 1.6 full roller rockers, Pacesetter Race long tubes, ORY, and bullet muffler, Poly mounts, and new plug/wires type tuneup. Plus a little weight reduction, but nothing major yet since I still retain all interior pannels, AC, and all bumber supports and safety equipmentincluding I still have completely stock suspension and 2.73 gears...

Race weight with me and 3/4 tank of gas in the car was 3490 and I have a good 200+ on me.

Too bad I was only able to get one good run in at Maple Grove, but I finally got into the 12's...

60'_____1.723
330_____5.124
1/8_____8.004
MPH____85.37
1000___10.503
1/4____12.628
MPH___105.85

And there is more in it with some more tweeking, but now I have to wonder what gears would do for me...

Thats f***ing fast for 2.73s Thats what Ive got in mine with whats in my sig and last night I raced a 89 mustang GT that runs consistant 13.9s. He said his car was running great and mine was running kinda hot and with some extra stuff in the back I still beat him by a car length in about and 1/8 mile and was starting to pull away. I want to do almost the same thing as you except 3.73s and a 2800 stall

That's great! I hope (someday) to make it into the 12s myself (I still have a l-o-n-g way to go).

What tires were you using to get that 1.7 sixty-foot time?

Stock suspension, full raceweight, and 2.73 gears and you pulled close to mid 12s. Congrats on the nice times.

Very good.... I hope to be doing the same. I would say that with 3.73 gears you can pull a better 60 and maybe 2 tenths faster 1/4 mile.

3 or 4 year old Nitto DR's mounted on stock z28 rims, with a lot of passes on them that I borowed from a buddy, he just had them sitting around since he got Draglites and ET streets mounted a few years back...

I can normally get a good 1.9 - 2.0 with cheep street tires though...

It appears he has a stock cam, bolt-on car. It goes to show you how valuble a higher stall converter can be to your setup.

Motor is all stock internals w/ ~80K miles...

I have been slowly doing things to it for years, making sure I had the entire picture in mind, and was working off of the philosophy of when something either breaks or needs attention to upgrade to a performance part that meets my bigger plans, this is why I got the higher stall converter and all that. When I got it it was actually spec'd to work with a combo still not fully in the car yet (but getting there), and in talking to the tech's at PI I was assured it would only just stall a little little less until those goals are achieved, so the car is actually just starting to come together as a better combo since that converter was a little high for the previous mods...

I doubt it.... I know people who have cut 1.5x 60 foots for 100s of passes.

That depends on what you mean by gonna go...

The setup is strong and it will not break, but the LSD has been going out for a year now, and every few runs it doesn't lock up. But don't worry about it I have it covered...

Just to make sure I'm following this... you ran your 13.17 with your converter already installed... ?? and you cut over half-a-second essentially just by adding long tubes and 1.6RRs??
