which Opti should I use???

I have posted twice and had only one reply.....Is there anyone who knows which is the best choice of Opti's???????? I have a friend at the GM dealership so I have been offered a good deal on the factory piece, but the Accel piece is cheaper......which way should I go? Please reply if you know, thank you in advance, Ed

I run stock a GM OPTI and spin my engine way past the stock rev limit and have had zero ignition problems.

Make sure your friend can beat the prices from these sources:

The GM Opti has been around for 15 years, and is fairly reliable. It is worth checking the rotor to make sure the screws are tight, maybe even using some Loc-Tite.

All the "others" are fairly new to the scene. The MSD has had some problems, but they appear to be trying to correct them. The Accel units seem to fail at a fairly high rate, based on the post I see here and on other forums. No-name rebuilds seem to be a problem.

The only after-market Opti that seems to have an untarnished record is the Dynaspark, but that's about $600.

One alternative that eliminates a lot of problems is you swithc to an ignition system like the Bailey LTCC that uses only the optical sensor signals, and eliminates the high voltage function completely from the Otpi. And gives you a system with 8 LS1-style coils.
