Flight Sim guys, who plays what?

http://www.camaroz28.com/forums/showthread.php?t=664642

This thread got me thinkin', with an awsome set of flight controls like that, who plays what?

My main game is MS flight sim 2004. I used it often during flight school because it has very accurate scenery. Bridges, towns, towers, etc.. are all in the right places. The graphics aren't perfect, but they are good enough. It was great for practicing low levels, and intrument procedures.

All the aircraft included in the game pretty much suck. I download military aircraft from SIMVIATION, but that site is a total rodeo. Some of the aircraft are decent, and others are awful. It's hard to find a good cockpit panel for a fighter. My favorite DL is the T45, because it has semi-realistic performance, and the cockpit is very funtional. It's sorta similar to a T45A.

This game would be stellar if I could find a realistic HARRIER DL with a good panel. I have found nothing of the sort though.

My second favorite game is FALCON: allied force.

It's a manned up version of the old FALCON 4.0. It is the most realistic combat sim I've ever played, and the graphics are pretty good considering it's age. The biggest downfall is that the game only officially supports the F-16. There is a user created expansion called REDVIPER, which has a harrier. I can't get it to work on my system yet though.

honestly I just downloaded an add on for FS 2004, and I am 90% sure they had a harrier in it.

I just downloaded it, I picked up a cheapy stick, nothing as cool as the one in the first post I made.

I jsut recently heard we have a bad ass room of simulatators I am allowed to use on campus, I need to check it out.

FS2004 Pilatus PC-7 Turbo Trainer Netherland Air Force 2006 Textures only. Since that time the PC7 has proven to be a capable trainer, and has since been superseded by the more capable PC9, and recently the PC-21, however the PC7 still continues to serve well in the training role of various air force's worldwide. FS2004/2002 EADS MAKO. EADS is a joint enterprise of the airline industry such as France Germany Spain. (European Aeronautic Defense and Space Co.) As for MAKO, two types (the supersonic advance trainer type and the small multi role fighter type) are planned. Though small fighters such as F-5 and F-5E are expected to retire in these ten years or more service, MAKO is an airframe that it is efficient and the taking turning is good that installed the latest avionics of the Fly By Wire system etc. Production is expected from the end of the 2000's to the 2010's. And though the airframe that can be procured at this time is T-50/A-50 of the U.S. and South Korea joint development and Aelmakki M-346(YAK-130) etc., MAKO is more efficient than these and demonstrates mobility that oversteps Mig and the Mirage that became old-fashioned. Four kinds of models(3 of single seat type and 1 of Two seat type) are included. by Kazunori Ito. 3MB

yep... I know there are cutting edge simulators there but we don't just have normal access, but I heard there is a room of older simulators that any student can walk into as a normal student and use.

I trip over a simulator of the wright brothers flyer almost daily between classes. Full machine you lay on and control.

The helicoptor simulator we have, the computer is down, but its a REAL helicoptor, I forgot the model, its small. But they cut the boom and rotors down, obviously has no motor but has a electric motor in it and all the controls down work. We can see what the pitch happens on the tail rotor blades and the action of the swashplate, when collective pitch and directional pitch is changed.

The thing with Simviation is that it's all freeware stuff, which means that there's a large amount of stuff that's subpar. I've noticed that there's a pretty good correlation between file size and quality. The best bet is to find stuff that was originally payware but is now on the free market... the T-45 model is one of those. I just wish I could get the Goshawk to work right in FSX, because it's a hoot to fly.

I run a Saitek X-52 stick and Saitek rudder pedals on Flight Simulator X. I have an awesome payware Harrier with some tweaking I've done on my own As well as quite a few other Military planes. I just clicked over 2300 hours flight time on FSX yesterday.

Here are a few videos of me flying with this set up:

what would you say is a good amount?

I got my file off a bit torrent, not sure if it was payware, or is freeware.

What's the name of the aircraft you downloaded? Simviation does have a few golden planes in among the craptacular. As mentioned I'd stick to ex-payware or the larger file sized aircraft considering the bigger the file usually means a better plane in the world of Flight Sim. I've even had to tweak about 80% of the payware planes I have to get them to "real" or semi-real flight dynamics. The AlphaSim F-22 Raptor I modified is a prime example of how much modding I had to do to it. Almost 15 hours of config changing and tweaking. But it's well worth it considering no one else has one that does what it can do now.

I would pay alot of money for a harrier file for FS2004 or FSX, but I would need to test it first to make sure it's perfect. I want the 2d cockpit to be EXACT for instrument flying, and I want the aircraft to have negative dynamic yaw stability, neutral roll stability, and a touchy throttle while in VSTOL flight. I want the HUD to look like a real hud.

I don't really care too much about conventional flight accuracy. Nothing is quite like having a man-sized handful of control stick which runs to 3000psi of hydraulic pressure control.

It would be great to get a harrier file for instrument and basic hover work.

I still want to get my FALCON: allied force bugs worked out, so I can use a harrier for tactical stuff. I don't think there is any way to get an SA-7 to shoot at you, or to drop ordnance in MS FS.

The Harrier I have on the video I posted is very stable in hover, however I had to hunt for some special things for it in order for there to be a true 0knt hover.

That is the one I have, but with USMC repaints and some mods. It's based of the Harrier GR7, not really the AV-8B but the USMC paints make it look close.

I tried to get that one this morning, but there was no DL option for it. I'll pay for it, but I can't find a purchase button.
