98+ headlights into lt1 thread
well guys, finally got my hands on some LS1 headlights, heres what I have found out so far
it looks like I will have to trim the light itself. Not really a big deal, i got these out of a junkyard for the HEFTY price of $50 for the set.
I will keep you guys updated, just thought I would let you know incase anybody else is wanting to try this out. It will take cutting, and fabricating, but I think it will be worth it.
Here is the damned ******* that started this whole idea

as you can see, the piece closest to the passenger side looks like it was trimmed out. it does not look like he cut his bumper cover at all. Cutting the light itself will not be a big deal as I can fill the small gap that will be formed with some clear RTV.

alright guys, well, i got the lines drawn on the back of the headlights where I am going to cut them, and they will still look like LS headlights. Now, any recommendations on what kind of saw to use?

Depends on what you have at your disposal. Personally, I would use a Dremel tool with a cut off wheel, rather than use a metal bladed saw.

I suppose the dremel would work best. I've never done anything but wood work and metal work, but if it was wood, I'd use a band saw, and if it was metal I'd use a chop saw.
The owner of your inspiration never would friggin answer me.

brangeta, i know he wouldnt answer. I am an engineering student, so i figured...why not just do it myself and answer everybodys questions. As far as mounting them, should be easy. LS1 cars have 1 bolt that mounts them to the body....

it looks to me like he may not have cut the light..... but i notices he cut a good portion of the head light bucket on the bumper cover and cut the head light buckets out.

im gonna pull off my bumper cover and install my 98+ head lights and see if there is just a way to cut the material from the bumper rather that the headlight itself i think that may be easier.. plus i think it will be cool to put some bad *** halos in there with out ****in them up by cutting them... if it turns out you have to cut the light itself maybe the whistler mod will work better than anything

see, this is what im trying to figure out, is the best way to go about doing this. the part that would be the interference would be the side furthest to the outside of the car. as you can see in my pictures, no matter how much of the bumper would be cut out it will not work. if i trim just the bumper support, and squeeze it in the one side, the bulb will be too far over and half way blocked.

It really doesn't look like he cut the headlights. You can see how they kind of curve back still, but maybe I'm wrong.
You can tell he cut the headlight buckets some, you can see it in two places.
I have some LS1 headlight brackets you can have. Maybe that will help.

well see, even if i cut the light, it'll still curve back. im a little confused here. i know he cut the bottom and probably the left side in that picture, but the right side is untouched. even if he cut the bumper support if you look at my picture the headlight would be too big since LS1 cars wrap around the corner where ours have the solid bucket there.
