carbon fiber hood.

so i have been debating about getting this carbon fiber hood and trunk from this company. i know after sema there is alot of carbon fiber hoods, fenders and trunks coming out, but im getting the bug. let me know what you guys think of the hood. it is 2 1/4" taller in the rear of the hood. i think it only weighs like 20lbs.http://www.carbonbydesign.com/prodde...=Camaro%5FHood theres 4 pictures of it. here is a link to the trunk they make.http://www.carbonbydesign.com/prodde...Camaro%5FTrunk it only weighs 8 lbs! if i do a carbon fiber hood and trunk, i want to get it from the same copany, so the carbon fiber matches. some places it can be a thicker design than others.

For his price points and products that he uses in the clear it seems to be a REALLY good deal. I just wish he made a ram air style hood...

well they said they have a few more hoods coming out after sema. i am actually wanting a hood like stock but with heat extractors on the sides, out of carbon fiber. there is a distributor of theirs selling everything for about 50-60$ less than they do. its called octanemotorsports.com

I'm pretty sure I bought my Vizages ground effects for my '93 Camaro from them. No complaints.

If time is not of the essensce, a good friend of mine will be doing some CF for Camaro.

I have no idea of pricing, but he builds top flight stuff for racing such as TransAm, Rolex, Speed World Challange, and FIA GT3.

Whatever he makes will function for performance.

Nothing of the trunk as it was on the other side where we couldn't get to.

some trunks i have seen weigh about 8lbs max and the stock weighs 26+. so 18lbs on the rear and the hoods weigh in around 15-18lbs and the stock is somewhere in the 35-40 i think. so your gonna lose about 30-35 lbs at least.
i did find a company that is making a different kind of hood but not until january. kinda has more of the look im going for with the heat extractor ports. here a pics of what they told me it was going to resemble http://images.google.com/imgres?imgu...%3Den%26um%3D1

I'm calling him today and let him know there is some interest.

The best point I can make about Kerry's work is it's wind tunneled, actually works for downforce and extraction, and is crashworthy.

Some other hoods can blow off at speed... I've seen it.

Here's a shot of an ACP hood on my '02 Z06. It works for extracting heat and reducing lift at high speed.
