Metra Aftermarket Radio Bezel for 5th Gen Camaros...Pros and Cons?
I know a few people have done the Metra kit installation. I have considered it ever since I first saw it...but I am unsure of all of the pros and cons from those who actually did it.
So to those who have it installed in their Camaro or have first hand experience with it, what do you think? Please list the known/factual pros and cons.
Thanks!

I know all about that. I have seen them in person, talked to people who put them in, but never got in depth as far as pros and cons after they use them.

What I meant was, since the factory radio cannot be removed without the factory HVAC controls, vehicle settings, etc. going with it, this replaces all that and allows you to add an aftermarket radio.

The Metra includes controls for front/rear defrost, seat heaters (both sides) fan speed, temp, recycle air, locks and hazards.
The old radio had some features for the car, like light delay settings. You don't have the ability to change that anymore. I didn't realize it until someone asked me if they still had functionality.
I bought all of my components from my installer. I could have purchased them a little cheaper online, but I wanted the installer to be responsible in case something failed. This provides faster resolution in case of a product arriving defective. Everything was fine for about a month and then the top display of the Metrea kit started blinking non-stop. I called the installer and he replaced it under warranty. So glad I didn't try to save $10-$20 by ordering it online.

So...for the settings that you cannot change with the Metra kit...do you set them with the factory head unit the way you want them, and then they "stick" when you do the Metral install...or do they just sort of go back to a default setting?

Actually, I have no idea. I never noticed the settings through the stock radio, so I'm not even sure what features I lost.

I have the Metra kit, I love it. Having a double din radio is much nicer than the stock radio in my opinion.
I know have Pandora radio, a rear view camera, voice controls over the radio, ipod connection, full visual GPS, DVD, and a touchscreen with my car's logo (BLACKOUT) on it.
