Official PDIM accessory from GM

I now have a USB port and can stream music from my phone using Bluetooth in my 1SS.

The physical install of the PDIM is easy but it requires a visit to a dealer so they can update the software in the radio using an MDI so the radio recognizes the PDIM.

Before ordering, I suggest you talk to your dealer's service department and confirm that they have the latest software for their MDI so that there are no issues during the radio software update.

Thanks to Iwantone2 who posted a PDF of the installation instructions: PDIMKit92213213.pdf

Good info for sure. Help everyone get up to speed with this if they are new to it.

What is an MDI?
What about those who have the 2SS already but cannot stream via Bluetooth?

MDI is Multiple Diagnostic Interface, it's what the dealer uses to update the firmware/software in the Camaro. My dealer's service department had a hard time programming the radio to recognize the PDIM until they updated their MDI software to the latest version.

Where did you order part number 92244580 from? Dealership or website?

I bought it from my dealer. It looks like gmpartsdirect.com also has it for sale.

PDIM for $55

Hey - just got a 2011 Camaro which already has a USB port for iPod integration via PDIM. I've looked everywhere for them, and they seem to always be $185. I found this website which has them for $55 and I was wondering if anyone has tried it out yet:

If not I may just pick one up to see if it works. It looks exactly like the $185 models I was finding.

I'll keep you posted.

I love that you can add this piece in relatively easy. I am curious though, is there any upgrade for the steering wheel mounted controls? My 1SS doesn't have them and it would be a nice feature to add in addition to the PDIM. Does anyone know if this is something you can order and install as easily as the PDIM?

Thanks!

Re: Official PDIM accessory from GM

Installed mine last night and like most others went to the dealership and they had no clue of what I was talking about. I even showed them the programing instructions that was included from GM. I wonder if i take it to the local race shop if they could do the programing?

Hey, how about you tells us a bit more about your 2011 Camaro? Post some pictures!

So tell us...how did that work out for you?

I would assume that shipping was pretty quick, since your IP address and the address of the company in your link are in the exact same city and state! What an incredible coincidence! Imagine that!

Anyone else thinking what I am?
