$42,000 for SS
#16
I can understand a dealer not wanting to part with their display car, especially for something like the new Camaro, where a chance to look at it in person and test drive it is really going to convince a lot of people that wouldn't have considered it otherwise.
I can also understand the dollar signs that must have been dancing in the eyes of the general manager when that stupid lady wouldn't stop offering more money. At some point, he would have been dumb to continue saying no. $42,000 puts a lot of extra money in his pocket, and he'll be able to have another demo car in the showroom in a couple months, tops. Have you guys seen that episode of Futurama where Amy goes out to buy a car, and she kept offering more and more money until the manager's head exploded?
RS is just an appearance package.

In KC, my dealer said the same thing (Molle Chevrolet). They marked it up 5K to keep it on the floor. It was gone in two days. Red, 2LT RS. They had an IOM 2SS back in the garage changing the battery cable that I saw. Didn't see the owner camping nearby

i do understand the reason for the markup for the one i saw today. its just a car in inventory. its not the demo vehicle and its not a customers sold order. so why not try to sell it over msrp? they told me someone already came in and offered them 6k over sticker. they didnt take it. but there are people out there who dont really care about mark up and they are wanting to be the first one in the are to have it. its a price of exclusivity (for a while). this is how the sky, and solstice were when they came out. they were marked up like crazy just so someone could be the first to have this new coupe. hey if someone wants to pay that much more, more power to the dealership for staying alive.

At the dealership I work for we have a silver 2SS auto with the RS package, auto trans, and sunroof going for 37k, plus 1,200 markup according to the salesman I talked to. According to another guy there we're also getting in another SS in red this week. I like the car a lot more than I thought I would, of course that's just from driving it ~5mph through the lot, but so far I'm impressed.

Wow...at the $42k price point, I'm looking for a nice car, not a fast one.
$35k? Yeah, okay, big RWD V8 with goodies. $42k? It better come with a J or W as the first letter of the vin or come from Cadillac.
Leave it to the dealers to f* up the intro.
