If you compare the amount of material that goes into the 5th gen compared to the 4th it is a greater value, added side airbags, standard brembos, onstar, XM, IRS, 6 speed auto, the content is way above what you were getting for your money in the 4th gen. 4th gen was basically an engine wrapped in a shell barely capable of holding up to twisting in half compared to the 5th gen. I'm no lover of the 5th gen but it is more car for the money, it just isn't a faster car than it was 10 years ago unfortunately.

You are far off because the cheapest V8 you could get in 2002 was $22,830 and the cheapest V8 now is $31,795 with freight. That has been my only point this whole thread. You are pricing out special editions and optioned cars and trying to compare them. I am talking apples to apples base cars from GM not SLP.

I ordered a stripper 1SC 2002 Z28 and it didn't have power windows or locks, no cruise, no rear defroster. The options I added were tan leather manual seats, steering wheel with radio controls, and a hurst shifter. You would literally break a rib on the center console trying to roll up the passenger window while driving. Paid $19k for it with the Camaro Legends Tour coupon for $1k off, college grad $500 off, and 1 other incentive Chevy had at the time I can't remember. Ordered it in Dec 2001 and got it on Valentines day 2002. I wanted to get an SS at the time but for 2002 Chevy wouldn't let you order a stripper SS anymore, you could in 2001 but not 02 so they lost a bit of money on that sale. Car weighed in at 3440lb's so it was about 400lb's lighter than the new ones.

God cars have gotten so expensive in this lifetime. With the total in parts and what you get, then yeah. Full leather, proposed LSA, tweaked trans, different wheels, brakes and maybe a couple other unknown performance options, then yeah, definetly getting a lot considering a C6 GS is in the $50k range as it is but with a slightly less powerful engine.
It would also have a bit of exclusivity to it. And on another note, if it's priced in the $50k range, that would prevent the "kids" from getting their hands on it and ending up killing themselves or other people with it when they WILL indeed try racing someone on the street with it. The older (~35+) crowd would be able to afford it in that range but will also be more responsible with the ca compared to the younger crowd.
ZR1 is to the Vetts as the Z28 would be to the Camaro. If it was specially built and possibly hand built, then it would be in the ZR1/ZO6 territory.

If I missed a few things posted earlier, sorry. I only scanned the thread.
IMO. To say the proposed Z28 is a GOOD value it would have to come with either similar options and performance and slightly less price, than the competition. OR be better in one of those 2 catagories. Ideally both, for the same money.
Off the top of my head, this means comparing to a 2011 shelby which stickers at what, 50k also? Otherwise the Z28 is just the same car as you can buy from the competition. No added "value". So it has to perform noticeably better (not talking .2 of a second in accelleration runs); OR have something the competition doesn't. Maybe IRS is it.
Granted, Im taking brand loyalty out of the equation.

As far as value, it is hard for me to say. I am still uncertain what the car looks like. I dont know what the engine will do, and I do not know what the suspension, interior(is this still being changed?), exhaust, tires, etc. will be.
At the same time, we can all assume what it has and if I were to vote on that it would probably be different. So at this time, I elect not to vote.

That will never happen and honestlly it should not be done! I am tired of greedy dealers, but if they mark them up, then just go on to the next dealer and pay MSRP. In the end the greedy dealers will either be stuck with the cars or be forced to sell them at sticker.
