Wow guys -
Another poll - -and the bickering begins.........
I got to the 6th post and wanted to hang myself from the nearest branch in my yard..........................................so I stopped reading and posted this.......
Some food for thought:
The U. S. government has an edict of 35.5 miles per gallon by model year 2016.
As of now, the only car (other than Volt) that GM has that gets more than 35mpg is the Cruze.
The Civic does not. The Corolla does not.
This 35.5 mpg includes SUVs and pickups under, as I recall, 6,500 gvw. (don't have the stuff in front of me...)
Now - our 'esteemed' (OK - I'm trying to be nice here...) elected 'officials' are now looking at 60-65mpg by 2022........
Never mind that if we sold 5 million plug-ins a year there isn't the infrastructure to recharge them at the current projections of power usage unless someone magically builds a whole buncha power plants..........
Soooooooo..........will there be performance V8s in the future?
This guy's betting that there will -- BUT -- they will be priced so high as to take most people out of the market....not because we want to, but because some people in Washington have decided that they will pass a law that 'forces' you and me to buy small economy vehicles.
I don't know about you, but I resent that. (this is MY opinion, and not that of the company for which I work...)
We need a comprehensive energy policy - but that's not going to happen with the children - yes - CHILDREN that we have running the government. (listen to them bicker - the last time I heard such bickering was on the playground in 3rd grade........)
I'M BEGGING EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU TO DO TWO THINGS FOR ME:
1. - Go buy the book "Why we love to hate the oil companies" -- incredible stuff - and the author actually gives a solution to the myriad of problems we're facing.......
(Trivia - take a guess at how many people on earth have NO access to electricity? Answer is below - no peeking!)
2. GET OUT AND VOTE ON ELECTION DAY. Personally? With the exception of Thaddeus McCotter, every incumbent will not get a vote from me - I'm hoping that we as Americans can send a message to our elected officials that we are DONE with partisan politics and the foolishness that has run rampant in our system of government.
The answer: 5.3 BILLION....................(do ya think we need to start building a couple of power plants here and there??)
Oh - and one last thing: I love the picture below - thank you, Jason, for taking it......
(but WOW - the Mustang community hates it - as in "who's the old fat bald guy?" and 'nice shoes!' and "what an A**hat"......)
(.....and do you see concern in these blue eyes???)

or they will sell it and get the money for it. if the demand is high enough and the buyer has the money, they will get it. and you know what, good for the dealer. because they have to stay in business too. there have been alot of dealers going under, and if it takes a mark up on a rare and "exotic" car like the "z28", to stay afloat and make money, good for them. everyone is working to make money. dealers arent any different. opportunities to make mark up money on cars, dont come very often. so they have to take advantage of a situation like this. you dont have to pay the mark up. but people will.

If dealerships are gonna mark the car up, let em. It'll be people like us that go in there to take a look at it and see the sticker and leave laughing.
I was haggling with a dealer over the price of a car recently and it was marked up $4k over the MSRP. I was back and fourth with the salesman for an hour.... Small talk and banter, but I eventually got to the point. I mentioned the sticker was a little high and asked about MSRP or close to it and he told me flat out "I am not budging off the sticker... It is a hot car and it WILL sell." At that point I just told him that I can't afford it, shook his hand, thanked him for his time and left. ..... I LOVE Haggling!!!! But in a way he has a point. He WILL find someone that will pay sticker for it and you know what??? I don't care.. Those payments or price will be on THEIR head then, not mine.
