2 years to go...

2 years to go...
I'm just wondering what we are all supposed to do for the next two years...I mean the Camaro is still a long way from the showroom. Obviously this car has impressed alot of the right people, but how is that excitement going to be kept up in the next two years? If it were 6 months from production I wouldn't be worried, but alot could happen in two years. Ford could quite possibly come out with a heavily refreshed Mustang that could take away alot of potential buyers. Now that the concept is out, Ford has had the chance see exactly what they are up against...Two years before it'll be ready for production If they have any common sense they will take the opportunity to crush or at least weaken the Camaro when it's launched. OK, so I guess my real question is how is GM going to deal with this? Is the Camaro going to be revised in secret over the next 2 years to keep up with current trends or are they just going to be relying on a softened version of the concept to push through to production? Anyone in the know have any feelings on this? My personal feeling is that if they were to get a slightly revised version of the concept to production in 6 months they would have nothing to worry about. The car seems to have been well recieved by the public and even though it's not what I and some others envisioned it to be, it's a good looking car regardless. What about 2 years from now though...How will it be recieved as a production model in 2 years? Could it really still have a chance in the market if it was only changed slightly from the concept? What if the retro fad comes to an abrupt end during this time? How could they ever restyle the car quick enough to keep it competitive?...I'd be interested to hear some other people's thoughts on this because I don't think that Ford will be sitting on their laurels.

Re: 2 years to go...
Ahahaha...yeah good point. Speaking of which, I noticed Im coming up on 1k in GM dollars.
Well, I have a lease that ends in about 2 years. That keeps me occupied some what. In hindsight, I should have kept my POS Taurus and cheap insurance rate, and put that money away...but I wanted a new car!!
Anyway, I plan on putting money from my pay check into a CD and letting it gain some interest every 2 weeks.

Well, maybe I mislead people because of the beginning sentence in my first post...My main reason for posting was just to see what people thought about the car's design and production two years from now...I'm not too worried about what I'm going to, I'm quite content with my Z28...I was just wondering if any guys would chime in about what GM is going to do with the car from now until it gets into showrooms...

LOL!
I have the GM card with $500 credit already and in 2 years I hope to be out of school and making good money
Till then I'm going to baby my 98, maybe I can have both a 4th and 5th gen at the same time?

Re: 2 years to go...
I call BS. With GM saying that the time is going to be 2-3 years away, they won't have to worry about those pesky annoying papparatzi (sp?) taking pics and posting them over cyberspace.
GM's had a great deal of security problems on the last couple of models, so this is probably a ploy to divert the papparatzi from snooping around GM's secret Camaro HQ. []
I won't be surprised if this car is not far away from production. C'mon guys, the General may be old but he sure isn't stupid!

Re: 2 years to go...
The guy that started this thead implied that if ford refreshed the rustang it could somehow hurt Camaro. I said the only way that could happen is if they took $3500 off the sticker.
Hope that makes sense.
