This time there will be no question.

Not really a question of can they, but will they outpower all competition? Us as enthusiasts hope so but who knows. Depending on how well it actually does...it could very well be a possibility as a lot of people would be willing to pay it to get a car as exclusive as that.

Hope that makes sense.

You're nuts if you don't think that Mustang will take sales from Camaro. Of course, you're just as nuts if you don't think Camaro will take sales from Mustang too. They are direct competitors, will be priced very close to each other, will perform similarly, and will likely sell at similar rates, if averaged over a period of time.

We'll leave off the period of 1964-1966 and 2003 to 2008 though, just to try and be fair.

Depends upon which metric you wish to use for the judging.

After all that, I have to plead ignorance on what is going on in the Mustang world - ie, I simply haven't been following it, so I don't know. Truth be told, I've paid much more attention to the new Camaro than to the current or future Mustang. I will offer an opinion that the Mustang will go to IRS in the near future, with the most likely reason being to make sure they can compete head-to-head with the Camaro. I will also assume that Team Mustang won't sit around and be idle waiting for the Camaro to hit the showroom - there are only so many "pony dollars" to go around.

Here's how I see it. All I care about is the final product. If it takes them 3 years to deliver, but the outcome is spectacular completely blowing away the competition of the time then it will have been worth the wait.
I want a solid structure, well sorted chassis, precisely calibrated suspension, excellent steering feel, well matched gearing, precise and short shifter throws, you get the idea! I want every control to feel like it was fine tuned to the application instead of just dusted off the old parts bin and cobbled together. In other words I don't want something that just looks great on paper or in 1/4 mile. This is what GM is just KNOWN to do unless it's a corvette or a caddy. I want the Camaro to hold it's own on the 'ring.
Not at ALL worried about powertrain options. There's little chance Ford can follow GM's lead on DoD etc to keep the power AND the MPG number high over the next 2-3 years. As often said, GM Powertrain is the diamond in the GM wasteland.
