I think we can get a 2010 Camaro at Invoice,,,But many say you will not be able too.....
Lets see many say the the Camaro SS will be priced around the $35,000-$39,000 mark,,,,,and many say the there will be dealer markups...(I think this car or the Challenger or Stang Gt will be invoice if you want to look around and not be LAZY}

But I see that you will be able to get a Basic 2009 Vette at Invoice at many places that sell mostly Vettes.......
Yep you can pay more for a Z06.

So lets say you people are right that the 2010 Camaro SS will be $35,000-$39,000 mark.
Ok maybe the Camaro will have a few add ons.............

The Vette will only be more then $1000-$5000 at your prices.
But in 2-5 years the Vette will be worth alot more when or if you want to sell it......
I am sure just like the Stang Gt that was selling Above Msrp when it first came out,people will complain about the beating they took when its time to sell...
And back then gas prices were about $2.50 a Gal.

I feel if you can get a Camaro SS at Invoice for around $30,000 Mark both you and GM will do well.
If these dealers are going to rape the public like ford did,Then people can look at the Vettes for a very small TAD more.
Or just go with a 2009 Challenger 0r 2010 Stang Gt at Invoice....( this is not 2005 any more where gas prices were cheap}Jt

 

If I didn't want/need a back seat, I would buy a 'vette....and it would take a lot more than getting one at invoice to make me want to go buy a challenger or a stang. If you're that concerned about $$, bye all means go buy a stang...they're already sitting on lots, not selling...once the Camaro is out, they'll be selling even less.

 

IMO, you won't be getting a Camaro SS at invoice the first year. Around here, '05 Mustang GT's were getting 5 over for the whole year. You could get a V6 for sticker though

Also, SS's for 35-39 is way too high, a thousand, 2 thousand at the most over a similarly equipped Mustang GT.

 

You had best watch the Ebay ads and talk to Vette owners.....they are getting their *** kicked on resale values and are unable to sell them without taking a bath. I've been watching a few in this area and they are beautiful cars that have been on the market for well over 6 months and are still for sale. Same cars are showing up on ebay, autotrader, internet etc. I've spoken to a few vette owners who bought new in the past two years and lost their *** on resale when they figured out they could'nt use them for a grocery getter etc.
If you want resale value on a Vette you're better off buying one used than new from a guy who is ready to take a hit.

I predict some dealers will initially mark up the first cars to arrive, but many won't and those that do will find themselves with cars sitting on the lot. Remember gang, this isn't the GTO; it won't be produced in limited numbers, thus driving up the demand. The Z28 may unfortunately be in a different boat.

 

While I agree w/ you in principle, I vividly remember the '05 Mustang GT's being sold above sticker for the entire year, and we have no shortage of competition around here.

 

That was before the recession we are currently in. I doubt it will be over by early next year. Also, while some people will be anxious to buy when the Camaro is first available, many of us will be holding out for the convertible and the Z/28 anyway so the demand won't be as great.

Supply and demand. By the time the convertible hits the lots, they'll be practically giving away the coupes they have left in inventory.

 

Let's hope not. If that's the case, it won't be looking good if they're having to give them away after 1 year.

Then again, maybe it won't be too hard to get one at GMS right off the bat for the wifey.

 

Why wait for a convertible? Just saws-all the top off.

 

IN the real world you can buy a base vette for 40K. I hope the GM stealers keep this in mind before they put on the ADM's. I would take the vette any day especially the first year or so. Anybody that pays a big markup on a mass produced car is an idiot in my estimation.

I am very patient and will wait it out and will also wait for the next mustang. It will be interesting to see what msrp is going to be. Frankly, I dont see them being competitive price wise with todays Mustang. Thats understandable given its an all new design with likely more features ect... Still, I wish you could buy a stripped down v8 powered car without all of the horns, buttons, and whistles and the extra weight they add.

I remember Bob Cosby buying a 80 something LX Mustang coup with no AC or any creature comforts to save money and weight. That car was a real performer for what it was and a bargain to boot. I remember that car being much faster than cars with much more HP simply because of the weight issue.
To be fair, Bob is better than your average jack leg like myself behind the wheel as well. I have the same gripe with Ford about this. Why cant we get rid of the power seats and so forth if we dont want them? It cost us more money and we have the weight penalty and its something else that will go wrong down the road. I typically keep my cars at least 10 years so I look at things like this. Am I alone in my thinking? Probably.

The new Camaro has two unknowns. Price and Weight. I think the weight is probably going to be close to the speculated 3850-3900 which is too much.
Im not happy about this. Price is yet to be seen and the first year it will be a disaster for those that have to be first to have one. Overall, I have lost a lot of my excitement about this car because it has drug out for so long, and because of the weight. Maybe I will be pleasantly surprised by the price. Im sure everybody at GM has done the best they could with what they have to work with. Huge companies do the stupidest things sometimes that make you scratch your head. Ford included. Lets hope they get it right. I think they will minus it being to heavy.

 

I have no problem with buying a car with 75% down and pay the rest within a few months.
So as many have said the Camaro SS will be around the $35,000 mark without markups.
To me I rather pay $$39,999 on a New 2009 Vette thats if GM inflates the price.I am sure most of us will not be carrying anymore then 2 people in the cars.

Yep it will be very interesting to see what the 2010 Stang Gt will look like,I heard it will have a 400HP engine in it.

Yep I am driving a 2006 Stang Gt,I have been happy with it and I bought the car at Invoice while people were still paying over MSRP.
It was buying the Stang Gt or the Grandam(Opps I mean GTO}So I went with the Stang.
but now we will have to Newest updated stang GT this March along with the 2010 Camaro and the Challenger.
Now we have a choice
I feel at the beginning dealers will sell the Camaro SS at MSRP or Under.
Reason is that there will be too many muscle cars out there too buy.
I am sure GM didnot think gas prices will be $5.00 a Gal or more when the car comes out.
And lets look at GM as a Company.
GM said that they will not make any money in 2009.
Their Stock was in the $14 range today and going lower.
Well fords Stock is rated as JUNK.
It will be funny to see in the next few months what the economy will be doing.
I hope it gets worst

Unless the back mini-seats are usefull to you there is not reason at all to get the camaro. The resale will be MUCH higher and after a couple years the camaro will be a camaro (much the same as the 05 mustang has faded into being mostly ignored on the road), but the vette will still be a vette.

Not only that but you've got a car that all around will be much better than the camaro especially in terms of drivability and suspension. Not to mention that the auto insurance you pay is likely to be noticably lower on a vette.

 

i love camaros and i will be tempted by the new camaro, but i bought a 2008 ls3 corvette and love this car to death, the corvette is in another class of sports car. but the camaro will be awesome

 

Ohhh I agree the Camaro SS will be a hot car..........
I am looking at price wise.....
If the Camaro SS will be $34,000 Plus then I will look at the 2009 Vettes
or maybe I will wait for the 2010 Vettes a few months after the Camaro is released and get that for less the $40,000.........
