Wow...that's the kind of attitude that a VERY FEW Corvette owners have that tend to give the impresson that ALL Vette owners are are pompous, arrogant driving glove wearing @ss-clowns.

To think that someone would own a Corvette (only if they bought it new of course) because they think it will give them class, sophistication or respect....

This Camaro is just a tell Tales' vehicle. Nothing is for certain about it, not even the pricing, and not even the duration of production. Down the road, you can always buy a use one.

Final note, the interior of a Corvette will always be better than any other Fbodies in production.
If you think class sophistication and respect come from any new vehicle I feel sorry for you. I love being back in Annapolis because its given me new insight. I saw a Ferrari convertible downtown. I admit it was cool but that new red Ferrari with the top down didnt take away from dudes bald spot.

The car sounded cool but you are who you are...

This is a very interesting thread. I too am finding it hard to wait for the 2010 convertible.....and am seriously considering a Z06 as a result. Especially if the first year camaro is not going to be offering a top dog type option anyway. Money is not the problem, nor is the lack of a rear seat....but it's very interesting to see the difference in the the opinions of what a beast the Z06 is. I had'nt realized it was that far ahead of the C6. I guess I'm going to have to arrange a test drive with a buddy who has one. Nearly two more years is a long time to wait, and I'd guess other people are thinking the same way judging by the way corvettes are selling lately. It seems that 2007 Z06 models are sitting on the lots however. Is there that much difference between the 07 vs 08 models?

I too just stressed myself out over the wait and bought an '08 Z06 in late December. It is an outstanding car and I am really enjoying it. In answer to your question, the '08s got a revised transaxle and a different steering rack. There may be other subtle differences like the key and fob in one, but that's about it.

I test drove the C6 corvette (NON Z06 )

(1) I was very impressed with the braking.

(2) It's a wide car, but it looks taut and very muscular

(3) Comfortable car and it soaks up bumps pretty well

(4) The car turned few heads when i gave it abit

It's a great car, but i wish they had the Z06 there for me to test drive.
After going back to my camaro, there is a night and day difference in power and the quality of the car. Now, let's compare my G35 Coupe to the corvette. Power and torque, The vette takes it, hands down
Interior and built quality, i give it to the G-Coupe. The G is a very tight car (So is the vette) but the G coupe has better braking then a C6.

Both are great car with a lot of great features at an excellent price. I am comparing my G-Coupe, my camaro to the corvette. I simply drove the vette so i can see what i'm getting myself into before purchase. I will see if any other GM dealer has a Z06 in their lot. I will let you know when i do take the Z06 for a rip.

Funny. My wife says Corvettes are for middle aged men with small penises and lots of money who never grew up.

I'm almost "middle age but don't think of myself with a small *****" no complaints on the ***** so far

Money wise, i wouldn't call myself filthy rich (i'm comfortable) and who wants to grow up anyways?

Nah, not true. You've got to be swingin' some pretty decent meat to get the wife's buy-in on a $78,000 car

I am totally amazed that the people wanting for the Camaro are thinking of a Z06 instead, if you can afford it, buy the Z06 of course. Now the real car to think about is the C6, i don't know how many times i need to say this but it will be faster than the NEW Camaro that's a fact!!!!
the difference in performance between the 2 vette is .5 of a second to 60MPH, 1 sec on the 1/4, and maybe 10 mph top end, i realize handling and braking is also better, but how many of us can really use all of what the "base" vette has? how many are willing to try?
I guess i am a little PO that the base C6 isn't good enough, and u are waiting for a Camaro that won't even be as good.

i could not wait for the camaro... so i got a vette for the time being... stripped down.... $40K (Les Standford Chevy)... if the camaro is even a little close it is going to be one hell of a car....

a fully loaded SS should cost more than $40K.... i hope not to much more
