The 2010 Camaro Convertible - NOT Coming to the Detroit Auto Show!
Front page news!
Despite initial reports, the 2010 Camaro Convertible will not make its first official public appearance at the 2010 Detroit Auto Show. Why not and when will it make its long awaited debut?
Here's the word that I got...
What I get out of that is that they don't want the rest of the Detroit Auto Show focus off the Camaro convertible, which I completely understand. Ironically, I think the Detroit Auto Show has been on the boring side overall in the last few years anyway.
However, there is an upside...
I cannot wait to find out what the event will be for it!

It would be "lost" at Detroit.
However, there is an upside...
We plan to do an event around it later this year.

That doesn't make sense to me. How would a convertible on one of the most storied and hottest GM cars in years get "lost" at the largest, most influential and home auto show for the Domestic brands.
No to mention Ford is there with their new 305hp/30mpg V6 and the debut of the 5.0 in the rival Mustang. This is exactly where the Camaro convert needs to be to steal some thunder!

well, thats good planning on their end. i would hate for it to get lost there too. it needs the spot light. maybe some big car show or cruise in is where they will be doing it at. where is the next big camaro or gm show at?

normally i dont like rag tops, but when i first saw these pictures, this car looks damn good with the top up. maybe its how long and low slung the roof line is. but i think it looks great up. down. bow thats a whole new story. i dont want to pass judgement on it yet because i havent seen it from all angles. but im not a fan of tops down on cars. especially 4 seaters.

I can almost see their point . The Camaro has been soo exposed in any variation under the sun . Simply showing a vert that has been seen already basically , may not carry enuff "sizzle" to garner too much attention amongst GM's other debuts . Plus I assume like LA , Leno's TTv6 and The Dusk car will be there . Those alone could make a vert invisible .
