A few thoughts: why do they need a 400 and 422 hp engine?
The V8 only gets 23 on the highway? great.
That concept length of 186 is now 190. great again.
over 3,700 pounds for the V6. great again. wait, that might have something to do with fuel economy!
3,860 pounds for the V8 version. quite a trim "sports" car.
oh and i know i'll get bashed for the "nitpicking". who cares how much it weighs, just ad more power! right

And the fact that there's never been a Buick LS or LT - the longtime Buick equivalents would have been "Custom" and "Limited."

"The base model is an LS. It comes with 18-inch heritage-style steel wheels, and relatively few options. It has the direct-injection V-6, standard roof rail airbags, side impact airbags, OnStar, XM radio, standard stabilitrack with traction control, and ABS brakes. Then we have the LT model, which is a six-cylinder with two levels - an entry-level LT and a loaded LT. With the loaded LT, you get 18-inch, five-spoke aluminum wheels, a power driver's seat and fog lamps. Then we've got a base level and loaded SS. The base V-8 entry is for buyers who want ultimate performance, but not necessarily things like leather seats (it's more bare bones). The loaded SS comes with leather, a Boston Acoustics audio system, electro-chromatic mirrors, steering wheel controls, Bluetooth capability, remote-start on the automatic transmission, and a USB port and wireless interface. If you have your iPod or a device plugged into the center console, you can use steering-wheel controls to scroll through song selections. The loaded V-6 and V-8 Camaro also have auxiliary gauges - the four gauges just forward of the shifter.
CP: "Final pricing will be released toward the end of the year, 30-60 days before the start of production. We expect it to be very competitive with the Mustang. "

It sounds like the 1LE/bare bones fans got their wish.

The difference between the L99 and LS3 is a result of the AFM capability. If you read the brochure carefully you will notice the rev limit of the L99 is a mere 6000RPM whereas the LS3 is 6600. The AFM lifters also just don't support as aggressive cam profiles as the regular style valvetrain in the LS3.
I'm wondering what the actual performance difference will be. It is fairly sad to have a watered down motor for the automatic car. It would be a bit different if the LS3 was an option for the automatic...

I think this has been noted before, but:
LS3 w/M6
422 hp @ 5000 rpm/408 ft-lbs torque @ 4500 rpm (6600 rpm redline)
L99 w/A6
400 hp @ 5000 rpm/395 fl-lbs torque @ 4500 rpm (6000 rpm redline)
Hmmm, something tells me those HP figures are VERY much on the low side, especially on the LS3. There's no way that thing "really" makes peak HP at 5000 rpm with a redline of 6600 rpm. My bet is that the LS3 makes more like 450 hp @ 6000 rpm.
