Former N.C. State Football Player Killed In Northeast Charlotte Crash
Posted: 11:45 am EDT August 17, 2009

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A former North Carolina State football player who set a record for tackles by a freshman was killed when the car in which he was a passenger was split in half by another car.
Police said 29-year-old Edrick Smith was killed early Sunday when the Honda Accord he was riding in was struck at the intersection of North Tryon Street and Salome Church Road by a Chevrolet Camaro traveling at speeds of up to 100 mph. A second passenger and the driver were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said the driver of the Camaro, 30-year-old Hugo Fernando Rosillo, ran from the scene but was tracked down. He was also hospitalized.

So how is the Camaro driver charged w/ 2nd degree murder, but Donte Stallworth charged w/ involuntary manslaughter and is already out after serving like 30 days for killing a guy when he was driving drunk?

So a new Camaro ripped an Accord in half? And everybody whines because it's too heavy??

Sucks some kids had to die. Whatever the driver gets he deserves. People need to learn busy streets aren't the place to play around

Guess I woulda expected more damage on the Camaro from a 100+ mph collision... The new Camaro must be a TANK!

I'm certain that 100mph was just some number that the news media threw out there. Looks more like 70 or so. Sad that someone had to die.

I wonder if I can go down there and get the motor...
