Yep, but not by much. A talented driver in the Camaro and a mediocre driver in the Mustang, and the tables are turned.
My experience racing against Mustangs indicates that most of the drivers are mediocre at best.
FWIW, my "experience" consists of about three races.

Yeah but every time a V6 5th gen pulls up to a Mustang GT you know the GT driver is going to be sweating bullets that he gets everything right or the 5th gen driver makes a mistake. It shouldn't be this close from a performance car standpoint.

Most of your average Mustang drivers are probably going to run high 13's although the car is capable of mid and even low 13's (with the optional 3:73 rear gears).
From what we know so far, the V6 Camaro should be in the mid 14 range.
High 13's versus mid 14's is not a driver race in my opinion. Especially when the Mustang is capable of low 13's and the Camaro is likely only capable of low 14's in stock form.
It will be interesting to see what the V6 Camaro runs, thats for sure!

The way i see it, the mustang GT should split the Camaro SS and v6 camaro in straightline performance. The gap between Mustang GT and v6 camaro should be about the same as the gap between camaro SS and Mustang GT. Just my estimate.
