The only reason people compare the V6 to the GT is because they keep thinking that just because it has the same ammount of HP (not taking anything ELSE into consideration) it's going to keep up with it.

If you honestly think that it will keep up with it, or be close in a race down the strip....
...say hi to Tatoo for me on Fantasy Island.

GT owners aren't losing any sleep...

*this post doesn't include the driver mod where anything can happen*

not just talking hp numbers, yeah i think its going to be a very close call. no doubt the mustang will get it in the strait line, but its kinda sad on fords part that there are not only the camaro, but other v6 cars that are nipping at the gt's heel.

Define 'very close call'
Is a close call to you 0.5-1.0 seconds? Do you know how many car lengths that is?

Sad in what respect?
Horsepower numbers?Torque numbers? Quarter mile times? Engine capability? Lap times? Price? Options?

Yet again, its hard to find for the price, the GTs power AND TORQUE + WEIGHT, in a car.
Same with the Camaro and its numbers and figures. (other than weight)

But lets be realistic now (not biased or brand loyal)
I think in a lot of cases the drivers can't see past the Blue Oval or the Chevy Bowtie to see the reality train chuggin through the intersection.

i guess the standards im using in comparing this mustang gt to the v6 camaro is from the past years. if you were to put a gt up against a v6 camaro 4th gen, back in 01-02, it wouldnt even be a close call. but given the technology and the hp number, new suspensions, and every other aspect of a totally redesigned car, its looking very competative to the new gt. also because the v6 isnt even worried about the v6 mustang, the gt is the next thing to compare it to. the ss is shooting at the gt500 and the v6 is shooting at the gt. yeah both may lose the race, but it is still very interesting that the under dog of the crowd is that close to the next level of competition.

I really doubt that a Mustang GT with anything more intelligent than a chimp behind the wheel (excludes most Mustang Drivers) would lose to a V6 Camaro. The weight difference in the two cars is too much for really close race. But I think a modded V6 Camaro would give a stock GT a good run. I mean lightly modded. Intake, exhaust, flash, maybe headers.

If 13.8 means "low 13's" then Ya stock mustangs can run low 13's.

Has anyone personally seen a stock mustang go 13.1-13.3 at the track? I've only seen them run about a second slower....

Im pretty sure you are the one out of touch with reality. According to sources the new GT's quarter mile time is 13.7 with a professional driver. Sources from GM say the v6 Camaro's time is 14.1, and we all know GM is very conservative with their times and hp numbers. Best case senario the GT beats a V6 camaro by 3-4 car lengths. Pretty sad if you ask me.

I've seen a well-driven '03-04 Mach 1 run a 13.3, and I've seen poorly-driven '03-04 Cobras run all kinds of stuff in that range.

Never a GT though.

Note: when I say "stock", I mean everything. Spare and jack still in the trunk, factory tires, etc etc. Stock.

I clarify because some people will call it stock as long as the shortblock is untouched. Those people make me

Naw I'd say more, my GT isn't some ringer from the factory and it went 13.64 @ 104 (3665 lbs) on an 80+ degree day.

and if the average guy in a V6 G8 auto is any indication of what the V6 F5 will run I'd say GT owners definetly dont have anything to worry about, I had nearly a second on one on a crappy humid night.

The G8 V6 is not an indication. Camaro has 50 more horsepower and a little less weight.

You guys are crazy thinking a V6 Camaro is going to run anywhere near a Mustang GT. If a 3800lbs CTS runs mid to high 14s, I'd expect a Camaro to do it a tick or 2 faster... mid 14s. I would be surprised if the V6 Camaro could crack 98mph in the quarter mile.

A Mustang GT will beat that by about a second and atleast 5mph. As someone already posted in here, their stang ran a 13.6. My Mazdaspeed3 will outrun V6 Camaros...

Too bad the DI v6 in the camaro isnt available for the g8 yet, so the nearly a second you had on that guy will turn into only a few tenths once you start seeing the DI v6 camaros

Mark my words Mustang GT high 13's, v6 Camaro low 14's. Much closer race than you think. Seriously the fact we are even debating this speaks volumes about how disappointing the GT is.

I'm waiting for someone to quote Gran Toursimo times here for kicks....

Please state said 'source'

(I'm not saying the Camaro V6 is going to be a sloppy/poor performer by any stretch, don't get me wrong)
