Are 2010 ex-rentals on the loose already?
I did a double take the other day as I was driving to work...A local Chevy dealer has 11 V6's all lined up facing the street. Most were red or silver.
I hopped online, and sure enough most of them have between 7k-10k miles, no plates, and they're all V6. The fact that they have that many miles and no plates tells me they're either demo's, or they were brought in from another state. (I'm near Seattle, WA). It was quite exciting to see a Chevy dealership with a contingent of Camaros bright, shiny, and up front!
So, is Avis already dumping its fleet?

been seeing that alot here too. turns out that its just that the previous owners bit off more than they could handle and couldnt swing the big note anymore. so they trade down to a lesser car. the ones ive been seeing have had around 11-13k miles on them. however the dealers think these cars are gold and mark them up to 42k on ss models and 37 on the 6 cyl cars.

could be demo cars from chevy. after they get a few thousand miles on them they sell them at auction for dealers to pick up.rental lots dont normally have ot get rid of their cars until closer to 30k i think. i dont think they are allowed to go over a certain mileage. these are probably gm demo cars. thats how i got my hummer. got it with 11k on it and had about 25k taken off of the origional sticker.

I don't know the answer, but I wouldn't be surprised if car rental companies dumped them already. Rental companies are hurting, we're out of summer season and they don't need the fleet, Camaro specifically has been out a while and the hype surrounding them causing people to want to rent and try it out may be slowing as dealers are more easily allowing test drives. just my opinion..

My company bought me a rental car to drive home from Detroit metro airport to Lansing. They booked me with Avis. As the bus pulled onto the lot I saw several Camaros! I had forgotten that Avis had them. I got pretty excited as I thought I might pay the difference for an upgrade. My original car was $40/day. I asked about the Camaro and was told the V6 was $250/day and the SS was $350/day! YGTBSM! needless to say I drove the Hyundai home. Are people paying these rates to drive them?
B.T.W. A guy next to me at the counter rented a v6 Mustang for $45/day.
