Exclamation 2011 Convertibles: Camaro SS vs Mustang GT comparison

Found some comparison data from the 2011 convertibles with links from each test below:

2011 Camaro SS convertible 6 spd man:
0-60 mph 4.9 sec, 1/4 13.2 sec@109.2 mph

2011 Mustang GT convertible 6 spd man:
0-60 mph 5.3/5.0 sec w/1 foot roll out, 1/4 13.5 sec@105.4 mph

2011 Mustang GT convertible 6 spd man:
0-60 mph 4.7 sec, 1/4 13.2 sec@108 mph

It's interesting to see from motor trends early tester how the camaro and the mustang convertibles stack up to each other. I know these are not test's that were done on the same track or on the same day but it's arguable that the camaro test had a much worse test day due to the So-Cal rainy weather during this article. Just take it for what it's worth until a side by side test between the two comes out.

These times are almost identical to each other and really shows how the low end torque and grip from the camaro's chassis setup helps it even with a 300-400 lb. penalty in weight compared to the mustangs posted curb weight.

Great job as usual Camaro Team!!!

Re: 2011 Convertibles: Camaro SS vs Mustang GT comparison

Pretty close performance wise. While I know the GT convertible is lighther than the Camaro SS convertible, does it really only weigh 3726 lbs? That is quite a bit lighter than the 4116 lb Camaro.

Coming from a person who drove both cars back to back.......

The Mustang GT vert handled like a slush puppy compared to the Camaro SS vert. The chasis improvements Ford made to the GT coupe did not make it to the GT vert.

Re: 2011 Convertibles: Camaro SS vs Mustang GT comparison

How is it trolling if one car is faster than the other stock and people are just saying the facts? The Mustang is faster than the Camaro up til about 90 or so then the Camaro will overtake the Mustang. The 392 Challenger will overtake all of them up to it's 180mph top speed. Properly driven the Mustang is a bit faster in teh 1/4 mile than the SS after that the SS will be quicker.
