You oil life indicator will probably tell you to change your oil before 10,000 miles. On average, the oil life monitor in my GTO will alert me after about 7000-8000 miles.

Is this DEXOS stuff going to be anything like the oh-so-popular DEXCOOL antifreeze and that whole disaster?

I can see it now - class action suits due to premature corrosion, compliments of another GM "DEX" product.

No because GM isn't developing any chemistry... they are just making a more stringent requirement for the oil spec, bringing required for all their cars up to specs that are already met by good synthetic oils.
