2017 Camaro with a 4 Cyclinder?!
Ok, I am seeing this article on Yahoo:
The New Camaro Should Look Like This, And Have A Four-Cylinder
I saw this and thought about doing a swan dive off the roof into the parking lot. A four cylinder Camaro? That looks like that?! The picture is a rendered image by Car & Driver, it isn't new. Not bad looking although I'm not jazzed about the front end. But a four cylinder?!
And I could've sworn the new Camaro was coming in 2016, not 2017?! This article smells of the same warmed over, wishful thinking BS that has been popping up on Yahoo as news lately. It represents more of the authors hopes (idiot!) than real news or insight. Still, this makes me mad.

Re: 2017 Camaro with a 4 Cyclinder?!
I wouldn't get worked up over it. This is a rehash of exactly what happened just before the 5th gen came out. There were hundreds of these types of speculations, and very few were accurate.
That should tell you something about the credibility of the article right there. 2015 is the last year for the Camaro to be built at the Oshawa plant. The idea of losing a year of production between the build locations when the momentum is so great right now is absurd.
As far as the engine lineup, that may have some legs to it. A 4-cylinder? It has been speculated more than once. Speculated. Which is exactly what this article is. Even if it is true, it doesn't bother me as it won't be the only choice, and won't be what I will look to buy. Good for someone else who will, but I look at what is near the top of the power list.
That picture? I can make a photoshop job just like it. So can everyone else. And they have. And they will. Relax until the real deal is revealed.

Re: 2017 Camaro with a 4 Cyclinder?!
The Camaro already came with a 4-cylinder engine.... 1982-84 they used the "Iron Duke" 4-cyl motor. It is considered one of the "50 Worst Cars of All Time" by Time magazine:
1982 Camaro Iron Duke - The 50 Worst Cars of All Time - TIME
With regard to future engines, the Ford EcoBoost 2.0L 4-cyl will produce 245HP. and the "Nano" EcoBoost 2.7L V-6 is expected to produce over 300 HP in the redesigned 2015 Ford Edge. The current 3.5L V-6 only make 265HP.
The times, they are a changin'.......

Re: 2017 Camaro with a 4 Cyclinder?!
GM already has a 2.0L turbo 4 capable of 260hp (the Ecotec used in the 2008+ Cobalt SS).
I just don't think that's what a Camaro should sound like. But hey, some people love the sound of a turbo inline-four, and if they buy Camaros, that's great for everyone who wants a Camaro, regardless of powertrain choice. So long as a choice remains, such that those of us who want a V8 can get one, I'm happy.
BTW, the 6th gen is coming in model year 2016, not calendar year. That's only about a year away.

I do recall that blight on the Camaro's otherwise fine history. I consider it one of the top 5 worst cars ever made, right up with there with every Fox Platform based Mustang ever built. But that's just my opinion...

Re: 2017 Camaro with a 4 Cyclinder?!
I had considered buying a Camaro somewhat recently. But, finances made me stop and think about it. I decided, since the release time is not all that far off, to just save my money and wait for the new model to come out. There is a distinct possibility I will purchase one as soon as they hit the dealer show room floor. Depending on cost and other such variables of course.
