2nd Annual Oshawa Meet and Greet

The date for the 2nd annual Camaro meet in Oshawa (ya, that's Canada where the car is made) has been set.

weekend of AUGUST 21st, 2010

It is very important for those who can get the day off to be there BY NOON ON FRIDAY AUGUST 20TH. That's the day we meet with the plant employees and throw them an appreciation lunch. In advance I will tell you- just like last year- there is pretty much ZERO hope of getting a plant tour- GM just won't play ball on it. We did get to visit and tour the Martin Rea plant where our suspensions are made- they even threw us a BBQ.

Details including hotel to follow when available. Last year was roughly 30 cars- this year it appears to almost have doubled already...

I wonder why they don't do plant tours. A lot of plants have them. I think you can see the Corvette plant, and Ford had a standing tour time at their Rouge truck plant (probably still do). Maybe they are worried about getting overrun?

Buffalo->Oshawa convoy information

EVERYONE please pay attention...

You want to arrive in Oshawa FRIDAY, AUG 20th by noon ! Of course assuming you can take the days off of work. I just want to make sure no one is confused with the poll showing a date of August 21st. That was "the weekend of"...

Now, to reiterate, I will be leading the Buffalo convoy. We will be meeting in the Seneca-Niagara Casino parking lot in Niagara Falls, NY on FRIDAY August 20th starting at 7:30 am. We will depart promptly at 8:00 am and will be stopping at Duty Free on the US side of the Rainbow Bridge to stock up with beer and booze. For the mapquest junkies, the Casino parking lot is off of John Daly Blvd in Niagara Falls, NY. The Rainbow Bridge is a block away.

Overview: I90- I190 North (or I90- I290W- I190 North)-> exit onto Robert Moses Parkway ( that's the exit JUST AFTER you pass over BOTH Grand Island bridges )-> exit John Daly Blvd (the RM Parkway comes to a split; to the left is a state park, to the right is John Daly Blvd). STAY RIGHT. The casino is about 1/2 mile up on the left.

If you are coming in my convoy, be sure to PM me your contact info-> screen name, real name, cell phone, etc. I don't want to leave anyone behind when we leave and if I don't have your information, we aren't waiting- even if you post here you are coming. You are not confirmed in my convoy unless I have your information. You are more than welcome to simply show up in the parking lot at the designated time and drive up with us without giving me any information but if you're late or lost and I can't contact you, we're not waiting- that's all I'm saying.
