Cool 5th Gen Camaro in Full Chrome Wrap - Video inside!

Good grief...I kinda like it! I don't think I'd own it, though!

A Czech company called Tintek promotes a chrome exterior wrap for the Chevrolet Camaro SS that will either make your eyes hurt or it will make you google their name to find out more. Tintek says the Camaro is the first chrome application of this kind in the Czech Republic, as the effect is not obtained by painting the car but by applying a special 3-D foil over the original paintwork.

This means that the chrome effect is reversible - a very important detail for those clients who will eventually change their minds after being stared at persistently all wherever they go. And for those customers who find silver to be too common, Tintek also offers the chrome effect in gold, black, green, blue, orange, red and violet.

I'm that into wraps I guess. Although I though the Audi R8 the guys at West Coast Customs painted "chrome" was impressive.

Thats a little much for my tastes. However, chrome stripes on black would be killer!

Dark or black chrome would look cool. I'm sure we'll see this kind of stuff at car shows.

Wonder how durable the foil is in resisting rocks and things that chip paint.

Wow, that is pretty wild. Almost looked like CGI in that video.

I'm curious about washing too. If someone did a whole car, could you wash it on a regular basis without ruining it?

Something happens and you get something like a scuff mark on a bumper cover. Just re-wrap it? Cheaper than repainting? Maybe paint could be dead. Could be cheaper for insurance companies to have things repaired, which could be lower premiums.

Just think, you could order a car, and then choose from a catalog of wraps for the color. Dont like it, re-wrap a different color. If durability, longevity, and initial cost are not issues, then maybe manufacturers could go that route in the near future.

Who knows, the camaro team could be the first to implement this and finally have others follow their direction.

Perhaps "wrapping" cars will soon replace painting them. That would be interesting.

It sure is a heck of a lot more versatile and easier (and cheaper) if you like changing your color schemes frequently.

That is pretty much what I was thinking. I am assuming it is thicker than paint so it may resist rock chips and such a bit better. I wonder how easy it is to fix when there is damage however. You can't just buff it like paint.
