For all that are going you need to find out if HUGGER ORANGE will indeed be available. That color will do it for me with gunmetal stripes! WOO HOO!! 2009 is too far away!

DOHT!! I overlooked Kenner, LA. I don't consider VA, or TX to be the SOUTH. They may have fought for the south in the Civil War, but most southerners don't consider them be the South. LA is very much the South. But like I said, I overlooked that one. In a nutshell, I'm jeolous that Florida and more importantly, I am not respresenting.

 

Selena is an excellent choice. She'll do a great job representing.

 

My hope is that those chosen will not be afraid to challenge what will be presented to them. My hope is that they were not chosen to simply serve as a rubber stamp committe.

It's easy to sit here in cyberspace - far away from everyone - and give a valid, critical opinion. It's another thing to give it face to face to someone who is part of the program and may have a different view.

Case and point: I really don't care for the IP and dash on the concept. Actually, I dislike it. But when I met with the head interior designer - someone who I have conversed with previous to the Camaro and someone who shares the same ethnic and cultural background as me, and someone who I consider to be a really nice guy - I just didn't have the heart to tell him how I really felt. Afterall, this was his work I'd be criticizing.

Several weeks later, in a conversation with the Camaro's VLE, I shared that story. He said to me: " Charlie, this is YOUR car, you NEED to tell them how you really feel". The next time I met up with one of the interior designers, I told him what I thought and why. He may not have appreciated it, (or I don't know, maybe he did), as much as a tepid pat on the back, but I thought it was important to be constructively critical.

So, to all those which have been selected, please have the courage to be constructively critical. And don't be afraid to break out of "group think" and challenge a preconcieved notion, if you think it's the right thing to do. This is YOUR/OUR car. And this may be the LAST chance to actually have an effect on and improve a car which will be essentially "locked in" very shortly.

So to Art, Tim and the rest who I don't personally know - I know you won't let us down.

 

If anyone tries to rubber stamp this, I'll be all over them. Rubber stamps do not a great car make!!!! In case anyone didn't notice -- the Camaro is my life........and I'll be darned if I want to fly a bunch of people out to Detroit only to have them say 'yes' to everything............

We are going to spend money on this -- because we see value in it. It's the right thing to do. If I thought this would be a rubber stamp group, I would have made it clear from the beginning -- that we were getting off track.

Yes- -- I;ve gotten an incredible amount of emails from volunteers.......and no, we're not going to change our minds on who we selected.

By the way, Charlie -- I have NEVER known you to hold back........SUP WIT this stuff where you were afraid to tell one of the designers you didn't like the dash? Are you going soft on us in your old age?????

I sure hope there's some 3rd gen representation in that group. It would be a shame to ignore the best-selling generation.

 

As embarassing as this is, I held back a little when I first saw the concept and met you Scott. I was so happy with the car, your passion and that you would take the time, I was caught off gaurd.

Yup, we have one of those, too (and some of the other people in the group have it covered, also).

 

I think we all held back a little when we first Met Scott, lol I know I wasnt to sure about a COMPANY MAN coming out & talking to us about the Camaro. But spending a night at the track during a rain out & then getting a chance to hang out & talk to him at dinner changed my mind lol

 

No Scott you wouldnt bring a bunch of Yes People (people who will just say yes to make you pleased) the first time they started doing that you would go ape on them lol. (DONT TICK THIS MAN OFF)

yes Scott is right he didnt even pick me or my hsuband & we though we were some of his favorate people in the NW but still we didnt get picked but we still like Scott & classifie him as a friend. Hope to see ya in July though Scott.
