5th Gen and OBDIII

If OBDIII contains the following:
1) Mods: cannot make any system changes whatsoever without corrupting the PCM (NO LSX_EDIT)
2) Relays information (speed, throttle position, location, etc.) to authorities (EPA, CARB, Local Enforcement, smog gestapo, et al?
3) Governs your testosterone levels of throttle manipulation
4) allows law enforcement to remotely shut your system down
5) provides extensive recording of actual data for later extraction
6) uploads info about your deviant driving habits to insurance company

Would still consider buying a 5th gen if it came with OBDIII?

1. Every computer can be hacked.
2. BS. Location of vehicle? Yes. Works like lojack. Speed? Throttle position? There isn't enough law enforcement in the country to monitor it, nor is there enough money in the budget to use computers to do it.
3.
4. Unsafe and will never happen in our lifetime.
5. While possible, unless there is a way to profit from it, I don't see it happening.
6. BS. Will never happen.

And to answer your bigger question... if the government requires all new vehicles to have OBDIII, why would effect 5th gen Camaro purchases?

The same sky that is falling now was also falling back in 1996 when OBDII came out.

If all that were true, I'm sure there would be somebody selling aftermarket PCMs for them in no time.

Then on top of getting popped for no cats, or whatever mods you have, they arrest you and take your car for not complying with 'vehicle/human behavioral tracking laws'. Evil bastards

As for the question...it'd be a complete waste of money for me to buy a car with limitations such as those, so i would no longer consider buying a new car for the rest of my life

Hope it doesn't happen, unfortunately i don't think the majority would even notice or care, and if needed easily be convinced its in their best interest, for safety and protection

That's lowjack and it does exist. And yes, could be dangerous if every car has it.

Should GM stick with the 58x reluctor it currently uses and a pretty vast knowledge of GM's can based electronics , a big stuff , XFI ect could be spliced in the day u bring it home .

I'd just replace it with the flux capacitor and keep driving!

1- Yes, like stated, computers can be hacked
2- Almost invasion of privacy... BS.. WHat about drag cars?
3- BS.. Will never happen
4- Would be good for stolen vehicles
5- Would be good for used car buyers.. But could be hacked or deleted
6- Would never happen

I don't see any of that happening.. The cars would never sell..

....OnStar can do a lot of vehicle stuff through a simple sat connection. With electronic systems taking over mechanical systems such as throttle, steering, and in some cars, braking, whats to say that the car couldnt be driven by someone in a remote location? They could lock you out of steering, throttle and braking easily, and bring you to a stop, lock the doors, disable interior electrical switches and door handles....
Its VERY possible if you put the right people behind it.
