5th gen spoiler delete......

I think the 5th gen Camaro should have a spoiler delete option across the board. Off the top of my head, cars that would be visually improved according to my eye with a spoiler delete option: Impala SS, Cobalt SS, GTO, Charger Daytona. If I were getting a Mustang... I would FOR SURE, 100%, take advantage of it's spoiler delete option.

That's great. Now ask the majority of the buying public. Time for you to sit down.

Re: 5th gen spoiler delete......

Why flame, you like them without spoilers, I like them with. Since this car appears to be a notchback coupe, a spoiler delete option makes sense. I just hope that they also offer options the other way, factory ground effects ala the 4th gen .

Wait, I know why Charlie wants to get flamed; it's damn cold in Chi-town right now, he is trying to save on his heating bills, to increase his down payment for the Camaro!!

Re: 5th gen spoiler delete......

Given the choices of factory spoilers, I'd have to agree 100%.
I think there should be more than 2 spoiler options. Especially, the "Hyundai" style wing on the "SS"...
I'd like to see more "Lip" spoilers on Chevy's, let the Pontiac's have the "wing" types, like the always have.
If all they'll offer is a wing on the 5th gen, I'll be removing mine for sure. I'd rather not have to patch the mounting holes, so a delete option would be great.

Re: 5th gen spoiler delete......

I have no problem with a spolier delete option, but I wonder if it's even worth it.

How many 05/06 GTO do you see with the hood scoop delete? I have never seen one.

How many 00-05 Monte Carlo SS's have you seen with the spoiler delete? I have seen a grand total of 1.

I doubt it would cost a lot, since it would simply be not putting on a part, but I can't imagine more than a handful, if that, being ordered with the delete.

if it has a lip spoiler, i'm all for it.

if it has a wing, i'll be checking off the delete option box.

Re: 5th gen spoiler delete......

I've always felt that everything within reason should be optional. There should be a couple prepackaged configurations, and you should be able to custom-order whatever you want otherwise, with a level of detail on par with RPO codes.

I've always hated the "you can only get this option if you get all of these unrelated options too" approach taken by many carmakers these days. For instance, there will be some kind of "convenience package" that adds heated seats, nav, HomeLink, and a moonroof. What if I want heated seats and moonroof, but not the others? Can't do it, and for no reason! (just a hypothetical example, but I've seem something like that on some car)

This applies more to convenience features than it does to performance features -- for instance, you can't get the scoop hood on a Z28 unless you also get everything else in the SS package (wheels, tires, spoiler, exhaust, and so on). That's fine, it makes an SS special.

"Delete" options seem frivolous to me. All options should be "Add" options.

F-body spoilers, from the little one on the 3rd and 1st gens, to the one on the 4th get firebirds that was big enough to be incorporated into the design, I don't think there will be any issues with the spoiler.

The problem is, dealers wil never order a wing-less, scoop-less car for it's stock. Thus why you almost never see one. How many people order a car optioned exactly the way they want, compared to buying it off a lot, or getting it in trade from another dealer's lot.

Having the option there for everybody else is a good thing though. If wing delete was an option (and i had ordered my car rather than bought off a lot) i defintely would have gone for it on my GTO.

Agreed on every point

No spoiler and/or lip spoilers look 100% better on each of those cars.

Well, it is cold here....that's true. Plus it's been kinda boring in here lately. Some flaming might be welcomed.

Anyhooo, I'm serious. Any of the cars I mentioned in the first post would be better looking to me without their factory spoilers. Don't tell me you guys haven't seen any GTO's with their spoilers removed and the holes filled. MUCH cooler looking.

I wish my car and a lip spoiler or a delete option. I like being able to see out of my back window.

For the love of God, we haven't even seen the final product yet and you ask this silly question? What are you trying to be... a newbie?

I'm a stealth-car type of guy.

No flame here.

Re: 5th gen spoiler delete......

While I like the idea of a spoiler, I do not want any kind of add-on spoiler. If it can't be built directly into the trunk lid (ie: seamless), then I don't want it. The 4th gens might be a bad example, but have you seen a 4th gen without the middle spoiler piece? Obviously, it looks like ghetto crap. That's what I'm talking about though. Something that from the ground-up was built into the design of the car.

The minute GM has to bust out screws or drill holes, they've gone too far. If they can't build it into the fenders->trunk, then I don't want anything. Definitely no wings or lips. In other words, it should be molded/stamped/whatever before the car is even assembled. If this cannot be done, please leave the spoiler business to those who would rice-out their cars.

This goes for any kind of ground effects too. Personally, I've only seen 1 or 2 gfx setups that look at all good on a 4th gen, and none of them are the GM factory gfx.

[wishful_thinking]
For me it's all about the seams/gaps. I want less (read: no) gaps and/or seams on the car. Yes, I know that's impossible, but in reality, the only place I want to see (small) gaps is at the doors, hood and trunk. Everything else should be seamless on the car. To include, bumpers, ground effects, spoilers, etc.

And as long as I'm in wishful thinking mode, put the antenna in the windshield (are they allowed to do that anymore?), I could care less about reception.
[/wishful_thinking]
