5th gen Z28?
I wonder if the Z28 name will be maintained.
It's hard to imagine that they wouldn't, but look at the other cars in the Chevy lineup.
Cavalier Z24 was replaced with the Cobalt SS.
Monte Carlo Z34 was replaced with Monte Carlo SS.
Beretta Z26 was replaced with Malibu SS. (this is debatable... there isn't a good parallel to the Beretta in Chevy's current lineup)
I love Z28's, but I just can't be completely sure that they'll keep that name.
I assume that there will be at least three major trim levels on the Camaro. Lutz has referred to V6's, 400hp V8's, and 500hp V8's. I think there are decent odds on there being two different V6's to choose from as well (3.5 and 3.9?).
Three trim levels fits well with Camaro, Camaro Z28, and Camaro SS, and certainly using Z28 would fit well with the retro design. I'd love to see Z28 (or Z/28) as the top dog, but the badge won't have any bearing on which car I buy.
You should probably all ignore me -- I'm just babbling.

Gee, so helpful. How many billion threads do you think I'd come up with if I searched for "5th gen Z28" or any variation thereof?
If you've read the thread, you might remember a comment that was made which might help you find it. I don't have that luxury.
Oh well. I'm not going to waste my time searching for it...

The case for making the Z28 the top Camaro again has been going on literally for years now, here and on many other sites. We'll see soon enough if GM really knows how to listen.

You can probably find similar discussions every two or three weeks going back over the past 2-3 years.
But, then we don't argue about which is top dog, Z/28 or SS... not around these parts.
