Re: For all the newbies that have managed to crawl in here

Personally this whole "newbie's suck" elitist attitude is ridiculous. There are only like a half dozen real insiders on this board, the rest are just hangers on, and it's stupid to get all uppity if you don't know jack squat other than what you're told.

I personally have enjoyed reading this board for years but rarely post cause, well I'm not an insider...

Of course a "newbie" coming in and starting a post with 6 month old info that's totally wrong (from what the real insiders have told us) does get old... Why someone who read something in print in a two month old motortrend would come on here to inform us all of this breaking news is beyond me, lol...

But new people coming in due to the concept and asking legitimate questions and making opinion statements shouldn't get flamed just because they haven't read every word in the forum over the last 3-4 years...

No kidding. Could you guys sound any more elitist? I've been reading the Future Vechicles forum for a couple years, but rarely post in it. Now there are some members with good insider info, etc...but some of you need to get of your high horses.

Re: For all the newbies that have managed to crawl in here

Its not "high horse" mentality that we have, its stupid n00b mentality.

When you come in here and make a post like "OMG I SAW THE NEW CAMERO!!" and post a picture of Kris H's or one of the other 5 trillion "concepts" that have been drawn by everyone and there mother for the past 3 years, get ready to be blasted away.
If you are a n00b, just sit back and let the big boys talk, like you have been. If you have a question about what we are talking about, you can post. But dont roll up in here posting pictures or articles from car rags that are at best 6 months behind that you think are new.

New guys just need to learn to sit back and read what is going on. With tensions rising as the show approaches, we are all on edge. N00bs dont help the situation.

Dude....wth?

It's a car discussion board. Everyone is allowed to get in on the talk. Sure they might be a little annoying at times but still...I think people are being a bit harsh here. Most of us were stupid newbs getting in on discussion we had no business being in too at one time. It's not like this is a convention discussing the critical aerospacial details in how to deflect an asteroid.

It is a high horse mentality btw.

Re: For all the newbies that have managed to crawl in here

how in the world do you expect someone to learn something by just sitting back & reading stupid post made by people who dont know the industry? Heck I dont know the industry but would really love to be in it in a few years if I can afford to go to college & still help my husband support our Family.

How many of the "big Boys" as someone puts it are really in the Automotive industry? 5 ? if that? The rest of us are just guessing on whats going to happen either we are reading between the lines of those that know whats going on are feeding us (sorry Scott dont get mad at me for this) or we are really good at making up what we think is going to happen to the point everyone believes us including our selves. Heck how many people here really know the truth about whats going on in Chevy, Ford or dodge?

Just because someone new comes in & askes a question that has been asked time after time after time doesnt mean we jump their case about it. Man that scares people off or makes everyone think they are a bunch of snobs on this site & they go to other better sites that do not snub them as bad & get even worse information. So they think that kris hortons car is the next Camaro big deal. Just tell them nicely that no its not. that that was just an artist conception of what he would like the next camaro to be. 9 chances out of 10 Kris will show up & set them straight if they dont believe you.

Are you serious? What situation? These are open forums Z, and as long as a thread or reply is topic-relevant, "n00bs" can post what they want. I'm tired of seeing elitists get butthurt because a newbie or less/mis-informed person wasn't as cognizant as the better-informed veterans.

What DOESN'T help the situation is antagonists like you. The general public, and the majority of the buying public, are most likely represented by these newbies. These are people likely to BUY THE NEW CAMARO. Their registration on these boards is alone a sign of a vested interest. These people, in that respect, aren't newbies. They are friends.

Re: For all the newbies that have managed to crawl in here

Nightwind makes a good point in that just having noobs register shows the interest in the Camaro. I have been sitting back just watching this forum since I joined almost a year ago. The mentality against stupid posts, while I understand it, isn't going to do anyone any favors. It's pretty easy to just pass right by the "OmG i JuSt SaW tHe NeW cAmErO!!!!" posts. If it's that big of a problem, let someone else inform them. It really is that simple. As stated we all start out as n00bs, and I find it hard to believe that some of you forget that so easily.

Now, FWIW, this is a car board, and just like all of the others Camaro boards I post on, the number of personal attacks and pissing and moaning posts has gone up. I'm not sure why....but it gets old. It's not a majority, but a small minority of members(not just here) that don't feel their day is complete unless they point out someones stupidity or bitch about something. I'm here to learn about the 5th Gen, not who you can't stand.

Now with us less than a week out, the n00b situation is only going to get worse. You might as well just deal with it now, because it isn't going away. We need the ones in the know to make a sticky with the commonly asked questions....and that will cut down on most(not all) of the stupid posts.

Re: For all the newbies that have managed to crawl in here

One thing's for certain, in a week, this board will be innundated like we've never seen, with LOTS of people from the forum and other places bringing their ideas about what the 5th gen is with them. There's no question that you have to read here a while to get up to speed on whats really been going on, nor is there a question that the "noobs" will no doubt not be up to speed. So we should all try to at least make an honest effort at civilized correction of misinformation when it rears it's head. Now if the "noob" starts arguing about the point, or starts saying that his brother in laws uncle works in a bookstore, and he read in a magazine that......, then feel free to pull out the driver and tee off if they're going to get argumentative and abusive about their position. But let's just get ready for the coming hordes, and do the best we can to not run off the honest to goodness new enthusiasts that just don't know any better, and are not looking for a fight.

But, if we're to behave like gentlemen in this the new year, then so be it. I'll be in the corner with a glass of '56 stock discussing the simplistic brilliance of Hemmingway and the true soulessness of retro.

Do you mind if I grab a glass of 15 year old single malt Scotch and join you. (I don't have a clue about Hemmingway, but I'm a quick study)

Re: For all the newbies that have managed to crawl in here

While I'm not a noob in any way, it's surprising and disappointing how many so called 'big boys' around here I really have lost any desire to associate with in anyway.
