Yeah, I think EVERYBODY is getting too worked up. The hard-core "anti-newbies" (the guys who really DO get worked up over them), then the "anti-anti-newbies" . Seems we got ourselves all worked up in a pi$$ing contest in a quest to STOP the pi$$ing contest in spite of ourselves!

I'm sure the "real newbies" are gonna think we're a bunch of quacks who can't figure out our heads from our poop-holes!

...and now I'm going to go back to sitting on the fence like I always seem to do!

Enjoy the "newbies", any kind of interest in a vehicle previously discontinued should be welcomed no matter how misguided. If you hold your status as above a "newbie" then maybe try and help them understand the board and how things work here.

Re: For all the newbies that have managed to crawl in here

Bravo Bob. I think the elitists should just stick to reading posts started by their other know-it-all wannabe friends if the newbie stuff is bothering them so much.

I think a lot of them are REALLY missing the big picture. The hardcore people, the ones that have been paying attention all this time enought to know anything, were already going to buy the car anyway. They were also already going to tell all their friends about it as soon as they get any realisitic looking data. For example, i'm sure all of us that managed to save the leaked pictures before they went down have gone on to share the pictures with everybody we know that might have even had a passing interest.

OTOH, the newbies are the people that need to be recruited and need to be stoked and informed. Someone who's spent the past 3 years reading the rags talk about there never being a new camaro NEEDS some reinforcement that it is coming, and btw, here's what is know about styling cues, etc.

If you just stomp all over that person becausee they're excited that they finally read something that said camaro was coming back, but god forbid the magazine had a picture of the SS concept, you're going to kill that excitement and basically encourage them to shop around to all the other pony and sporty cars out there and coming in the near future. If you instead cutivate that excitement and educate them, then just like the hardcores, that newbie might go share all the great info he just found with his friends. They're more likely to obsess and focus on the 5th gen if they feel a bond with others over the car. If they think camaro is just for the hardcore know-it-all elite, then they'll just go buy a mustang like the rest of the unwashed masses

ROFLMAO, had to throw that last line in. But in all seriousness, the new mustang is IN. The charger/300C are IN. The challenger will be IN. The sporty lexus and infinity cars are IN. Etc. Hate to break it to the hardcore GM crowd here, but GM does not have many IN vehicles right now. GM fans have NOTHING to be elitists about right now, unless you want to spank of to the ZO6 that you'll never actually get to sit in let alone own.

Thus, pushing away people interested in the fbody should be discouraged no matter how lame they might seem because fbody needs all the help it can get to succeed.

It'll be nice to have a new Camaro again.

Cheers.
Welcome.

I've been lurking at the Mopar sites for years. You're no newbie to me.

Hey George,

Welcome aboard. I post on AllPar and Challenger Forums as 71GTX. Despite some of the angst being posted here, this is a great board with some really knowledgable and cool people.

Thanks for the welcome, guys.

For what it's worth, I'm totally sympathetic on the n00b thing -- the Mopar boards got hammered the day Autoweek ran Priddy's pix of the orange car, and I'm sure you guys are going to get it ten times worse after the unveiling. Me, I just want a good seat to watch the action.

I dont think anyone has a problem with the newbs excitment, its when good newbs go bad and post up pictures of "concepts" and chew up bandwith. If newbs dont post that, then Im good. Questions about what is going on is good, but posting crap is not.
Clear?? Clear.

Alright, ive reloaded...

So don't read it then. JFC, an excited newb posting a 6 month old concept is still a better use of bandwidth than 90% of the loung anyway, so who cares. That was the dumbest reason yet.

What part of ****ting all over newbies is going to drive them away don't you people understand? Camaro needs EVERY SINGLE DROP of enthusiasm it can get to succeed. Newbs that see pictures, get excited and show them to everybody they know are EXACTLY what camaro needs because those are the people that are spreading the word into the non-hardcore crowds.

In the end, who are you to decide what defines a good post? I'm sure Jason and Chris don't mind a little extra newb traffic with an interest in the new car, so why do you?
