Allocation: 3 Me: #4
I ordered my Camaro a few weeks after the dealers started taking orders. When I placed the order, I found that my dealer had been allocated 3 cars, all of which were sold, and that my order was number 4.
I know my order is in the system because I received the letters from Chevrolet and the nice Camaro art with my order number on it.
But when will I get the car? I've read conflicting things in Camaro discussions, and I am skeptical of the dealers' assertions that the car will arrive 'a month or so later' than the three allocated cars.
Is there any definitive information as to how a situation like this will be handled? Am I gonna get a 2011 car?

The way I understand it, is that you will get your car after all of the initial orders are done. They say that they plan on having them all built no later than September, which would mean that you would get your car...a little later than September I suppose. Then again, that is a worst case scenario. If they ramp up production faster than that, you could see it in July, but that's being pretty optomistic.
Did you give him a deposit? Is it refundable? If you can get your deposit back, I would suggest finding another dealer that hasn't sold all it's orders yet...

No one should be concerned IF they'll get a 2010 car, provided GM is still in operation.
The when part needs to play out still. It's hard to nail down because we just dont know the production rates yet. GM will not rush cars out the door if they arent perfect, so they will ramp Oshawa up slowly.

I would be putting money on that you will be getting your car. It might be delayed, but I'd bet you have it by October....
Just going by some of the MANY discussions I've had via email with John & Scott, and via IDL here at the dealership.

My local dealer didn't even know you could order them yet when I talked to them in december. Switching to a dealer who isn't sold out might not be a bad idea.

I considered that, but our business has a good relationship with this dealer.
And this dealer has agreed to let me have the car before any dealer prep takes place, which is something many dealers are reluctant to agree to.
I don't mind if I hafta wait a few extra months...As long as I know the car is coming within a reasonable period of time. I guess September or October would be okay.

Just curious, why do you prefer to have the car before dealer prep? Also, other dealers may do that for you, with the economy they may be willing to allow it. If you're interested I ordered from a dealer in Tampa for MSRP and they have 27 cars allocated to them. I don't think they've filled all of that (I am #4 there behind 2-V6 and 1-SS).
Something else to think about...I remember someone posting that for $250 you can have the car delivered directly from the factory to any Chevy dealer in the US, it's called direct delivery. If you did this you could pay MSRP, get in the first batch of released cars, and have it delivered to your local dealer who won't prep it for you. I was contemplating this but I deceided I'm going to Bush Gardens the weekend I pick up my car. Then I'll be able to compare my new SS to the rollcoaster rides on the way home.

GM does this for the Corvette as well, but I think it is around $400. The only issue is that the dealer delivering the car to you has to agree to do this first, most dealers frown upon this, since it is not a sale for them and them make next to nothing in the deal. You have to check with the dealers on your own first and see if they will agree to this.

The corvette is the only car I've read about where you can pay to have it delivered directly to you. The catch is that its called National Corvette Museum Delivery, and you go to the museum for pickup.
A great experience Im sure, but since they dont have a camaro museum.......

Or are you guys referring to some other order process?
