Any details of GM's competitor to the Boss 302?

Any chance you guys could even imagine what the GM competitor of the Boss 302 would be like?

Would GM put in a hard plastic rear seat to lighten the vehicle? Maybe slightly smaller 19 inch rims with tires similiar to the Boss 302?

maybe a cold air intake filter setup for 14 more hp? Should put the LS3 over 440 hp ? (and a few extra lbft of tq?

What do you guys think? Can GM create both the LSA powered Z28 and a competitor for the Boss 302 ?

I heard the boss 302 will start at an msrp of 36 grand with the laguna sega version starts at 44'grand..

I actually like the Boss 302 better than the GT500..

and of course being a GM enthusiasts...I prefer the camaro sS over the ford branded product..

With that said...though the boss 302 is very impressive..

i dont think GM cares right now.

but if they wanted to match/beat a little thing like that, they'd release the Z28.

It would be nice, but I doubt it. I bet we will see some sort of performance package for the SS before it is all said and done, but I doubt there will be any model as focused as the Boss.

like, maybe a Pedders suspenison package from the factory?

the mustang has that anyone can make a special edition of it and sell in a showroom, all Camaros are owner cars, you make it special.

A plastic seat and smaller rims aren't going to lose any real weight.

Cold air intake on an LS3 isn't going to give you anywhere near that much power... BTW, the LS3 Camaro already has a "cold air intake"

Honestly, no.... in the realm of possibilities, maybe. GM needs to fix the understeer issue without making the steering feel heavier & needs to redo the steering feel. GM can potentially make the Camaro SS handle a track as well as a Boss Mustang, however, it will never feel as good doing it because while the Mustang actually "feels' great carving up a track, the high beltline and dash of the Camaro will always give the illusion of the Camaro being a bigger (and more unruly) car even though it's not really any bigger than the Mustang.

I heard the boss 302 will start at an msrp of 36 grand with the laguna sega version starts at 44'grand..
Saying "I heard" is about as credible as Elvis, Bigfoot, and Loch Ness Monster sighting.... in other words, totally pointless and useless. Lets wait to see where the price will actually be. Even at 36 grand (keep in mind GTs are 31 and Camaro SS is now running 32 grand), $36K isn't a bad price

I'm not really a GT500 fan either, although the latest one eliminates most of what I had against the last edition except price (compared to the Cobra, the last GT500 had 110 more horses, was heavier, was far more expensive, but was barely any quicker but with the stripes far more gaudier). But the Boss has won me over big time.

"Maaaaybe" things will change post-bankruptcy as far as variations go with the Camaro . But, a car like the Boss thats priced like a Boss, I probably wouldnt hold my breath for in this generation .

Price will be my deal-maker or deal-breaker on the Boss.

Don't forget, we don't know the price of the Z28 yet either. if the boss and z28 are within $5k of each other, I think I would pay the extra to get z28

There isn't going to be a competitor from GM, they are happy making coin on nostalgia right now and filling the pent up demand that hasn't been filled for 8 years.

Unfortunately, it appears that GM has little interest in a Boss Mustang competitor. Of course, the Z/28 is the Boss's most DIRECT competitor. But Chevy will take the Z/28 name and affix it to it's GT500 Camaro. This upsets many of us.

Perhaps we'll get our Boss competitor on the next gen car.

We are going to have to wait for the next gen. The 5th gen is just to heavy to make it compete with the boss.

GM isnt biting on ANY of the special Mustangs(GT500 obviously excluded) , and by special I mean the SCCA/grand am and drag cars . I forget the actual names , 1 is a FR500 CJ and the other a FR500s . I do realize these were not titleable street cars, but they do have some part in the creation of the BOSS . GM just doesn't really seem to be to concerned , at this time anyways, to be reaching out to the Di-hard enthusist. The 5th gen chassis IS capable, so my only drawn conclusion is GM is just not interested in taking the 5th gen there at this point. Like I said though, maybe post bankcruptcy GM will be playing with the 5th gen a bit more. Time will tell .

As a race team receiving help from GM, I can assure you that GM doesn't care. There are a few hardcore people with in GM that help, but nothing like what Ford has.

wow.. this is kind of sad... but i hope that changes in the near future.. the camaro is actually outselling the mustang but they have to keep interesting things coming to keep it up.
