Anyone care about the radio?

Re: Anyone care about the radio?
I will want a premium radio option, maybe Bose or Monsoon and XM is a must, I love XM. Doesn't the Cobalt SS and HHR have a optional Pioneer system?, that might be a option.

Agree on the MP3 jack. XM blows now-too many commercials and horrible customers service-I don't even want to get into this. I just cancelled last week. Just give me a solid system as I would be driving for pleasure, not daily.

I agree with those who don't want HVAC, and navigation controls integrated into the head unit. I want to be able to replace the stereo with an aftermarket unit.
If I ever purcahse a 5th gen, the stereo and exhaust will be my first two upgrades.

Re: Anyone care about the radio?
For me I have been there and done that with aftermarket head units. I have had the best in every kind of audio equipment, and I have to say after all that I don't ever want to put another aftermarket radio in my car again. I am tired of the aftermarket radio look and cheesyness. I don't want my radio sticking out like a soar thumb and I especially don't want to draw attention to my car because of a cute little radio.
I want a stock touch screen navigation option with integrated DVD/CD (no changer all they do is break). Instead of having to deal with putting in an aftermarket radio I would like to see GM make a radio with preouts, and provisions for full iPod integration. If they could give us a premium radio package that allowed me to add amps as I pleased, have full control over my iPod while it is in my glove box, and do a touch screen navigation I would be very happy. I think everything I am looking for is reasonable, I don't want factory 1000W amps or subs. I just want speakers that sound full and crisp from the factory and a radio that I don't have to swap just so I can have navigation and iPod integration.

I agree with Whitten, the problem with the aftermarket today is finding a good head unit that isn't styled specifically for the ricers. It's incredible how garish & ridiculous the graphics are on some of the higher end units these days.

Fortunately, there are still some high end head units that have a tasteful appearance.

I don't think they'll have a problem w/ the radio. I wish they put some kind of bass blockers on the speakers, tho. So they don't sound like crap when you crank it. Or install a small amp w/ a preset power/ frequency going to each speaker. They'll prolly have a sub in there somewhere.

Don't really care about the stereo. I thought the Monsoon in my 02 was the best sounding vehicle I have ever heard, until I got on the forums and everyone complained about the Monsoon being horrible and crap, I thought it was really good!

Re: Anyone care about the radio?
I hope GM doesn't spend a lot of money in the audio department. The exhaust audio department is what I care about. I want to hear my car not the friggin radio. That is why I drive a camaro now and do not want to pay for a factory radio. It would be nice if the base camaro came with no radio/speakers at all and was a couple hundred cheaper. Make the radio/speakers an option as well as the a/c.
As long as GM gets the exhaust to sound deeper and throatier than the lt1's I will never listen to the radio again.
