Camaro as an 08? A longshot rumor.....

Re: Camaro as an 08? A longshot rumor.....
A short run is something that I hadn't thought about. Your making a rare car, and getting them out as soon as you make them, that would sort of create a market buzz of people on the street pointing "what is that" and someone responding "oh, thats a Camaro, but they're only making a few of them." People would want them and it would create a spike in demand for the big production number release of cars...but, for those first few low production vehicles, dealers would have a field day, probably expoiting the low number production, with a pricing adjustment fit for kings.
Now....what if GM could do something like giving these first cars to good dealers that get good feedback? What if they also told these dealers that they couldn't sell the car for something like 4 months, so that the car would essentially stay on the show room floor. Everyone that comes through there would see it, the dealer could say "thats a concept car that GM let us have, we are gonna sell it in 4 months" The dealers could also have a drawing for those that want to buy the car. A drawing would look alot better than having the consumers bid against eachother. Maybe to get into the drawing, you have to of taken a test drive in a Chevy vehicle. If you win, they could contact you and ask if you want to buy an exclusive vehicle AT MSRP. So making it possible for any joe-shmoe to own this car.
I guess I'm just dreaming though.

As an aside, keep in mind that an '09 MY Camaro can hit the showrooms very early CY '08. That's only 2 years away.

Camaro is also built on a high volume sedan platform, and much of the engineering work undoubtedly has been piggybacked there.
Serveral people who were introduced as working on the car were leaving immediatly for Austrailia....and some were not even at the show because they were buy "working in Austrailia". Austrailia is home to GM's RWD homeroom and Zeta program. The Camaro will take 46 months....I would be shocked if it took half that
