Now I look at the red 1LE again, it sure looks SSX-ey.
with a diff stripe package and blacked out ZL1 spoiler and regularly painted rear panel.

They should just make the Z28 like the SSX, but with the ZL-1's new grille, blacked out ZL1 spoiler(like the 1LE) and frt fascia like the latest Bumblebee's. It sure would be more differentiating.

If only they would hurry up with a direct injected LS3!

I dont think so. The 4th gen SS 1LE which I think opened this oppertunity for a Grand Sport like car. I am assuming youre saying that because you think this 1LE will become Z28 like it was in spirit in the 4th Gen. I hope not.

Sometimes SEMA cars become reality, depending on how rooted they are in reality to begin with as well as public reaction.

What if the 1LE is being presented as something that may get a new name in the future, should it actually get built? Like...the Z28.
If this 1LE became an SS 1LE OR simply just 1LE trim level between SS and Z28 model Id be happy. If it became a Z28 with an LS3 Id be highly disappointed.

I think The Z28 should be like the Z06 with a LS7 or Next gen small block like motor being between the 1LE and ZL1

SS Similar to Base Vette
SS 1LE Similar to Grand Sport
Z28 Similar to Z06
ZL1 Similar to ZR1

It would be stupid not to, better power and torque, better mpg? I don't see the downside?

I'm sure its coming soon, just as a different rpo, like a 6.0-6.2 LS5 470hp, I dunno

Cool. Now make it all one color, change the front bumper or grill some, get rid of the fender stripes, give it an LS7, racing seats, add full length Z28 stripes, and call it the Z28 already.

And who would've thought Chevy would offer a ZL1 convertible with a slush box?

Anything is possible.

The 1LE is what I figured GM would do for the Z28 when I heard the ZL1 was introduced. Basicly an SS with ZL1 go fast parts save the LSA.

I kinda figured with all the effort GM was putting into the ZL1 that it would be a waste for all that development to be displayed on so few cars.

With a cold air kit and the ZL1 exhaust GM could advertise the 1LE or Z28 as 10-15 HP up on the SS to satisfy some of the purists. Cut some weight from the wheels and hopefully some other places and showcase the great ZL1 derived handling. It's the easiest way to get another very missed model into the lineup with off the shelf production parts.
-They key will be if it's priced and performs like the BOSS 302.

1LE is to ZL1 as Grand Sport is to ZR1.

exactly. the ls3 will be on its way out soon and the next motor will be coming in. especially with the new c7 vette. whatever motor it has in it, it wont be the ls3. all this time and $ spent on that car and designing it...it would be a let down to throw an off the shelf ls3 in it.

so basically get rid of everything that they did to it and redo it to call it a z28?

Yeah I guess that is the route they will take, I think the new 5.0 Coyote has them rethinking their engines.

Gen V V8 will certainly debut in the C7 I'm just not so sure it will ever make it into a 5th Gen Camaro.

The 5.5L displacement is an ALMS GT2 class engine displacement restriction and has no significance to what the production Gen V small black displacement will be.

From what I heard for the C7, the HP for the new LS engine will be right around what the current LS7 on the Z06 puts out...so figure around 500 HP for the C7 and I would think that a year after that or so possibly make its way down to the current 5th gen Camaro, maybe in the upper 400s.
