How do you figure it would save 100 lbs? I dont think it would save any. Especially when you dont have to reinforce for that huge hatch. I really dont see how they could be hidden without making it harder to get into the rear and blocking your veiw. Remember that 1st gen doors are 7 inches shorter than every other gen. That 1/4 window is about 7 inches. It also give you doors that are easy to manage. So this C Pillar is about where every other gens B Pillar is with the huge doors. If anything its lost weight by having a trunk. I think it looks better with all the windows rolled down.

Go in the corner, face the wall, and don't come out till you learn the meaning of "extreme over-reaction".

It may seem insignificant until you consider , if both DCX and GM had decided already that B-pillars would be used , you certainly arent gonna see those windows down again on the concepts from now on . I find it pretty significant their up this time in both of them Or they may be simply testing how overall reaction is with them up , as opposed to with them down in Detroit . Kind of a "do we really need" type observation .

Ummm...let me put it like this:

I'm not guessing on the weight.

This is one reason why it SHOULDN'T have a B-pillar - differentiate it from the rest of the pack.

The average Coupe buyer probably doesn't have a clue what a B-pillar is anyway - so I think the issue is a bit overblown.

I'm just curious here; what is the actual weight difference if you know?
Stating 50-100 lbs savings is broad enough to warrant your statement as a "guess".

I assume with no B-pillar extra reinforcing is required for rigidity, thus more weight. So, how much extra weight/reinforcing is required? How much does a B-pillar weigh? Subtract from each other and we have the weight difference. If you know or can find actual weights experence I'd like to know. To me the savings of one over another may be a wash.

They might not know what it is, but they'd know what looks better.

"Looks" are very subjective, and what looks "better" to you or I may or may not look better to someone (or everyone or anyone) else.

This is what it would look like with a B-pillar.

I figured they could black it out behind the glass, and it wouldn't be noticable at all.

If the above 2 images are what it will look like with the much maligned B-Pillar... I don't get what the fuss is about. It looks just as good. To me anyway.

Re: Camaro and Challenger observation in Chicago...

The B-piller would have to be well hidden, like that. I suppose I'd take that compromise.
