I don't like the GOLD bowties. But a silver, brushed nickel, billet bowtie would look good imo.

 

I think the bowtie should be whatever color the car is. I think an old school blue bowtie will look good on the blue convertible I'm going to get.

 

That's a bit too much for the regular person to keep in mind. My mom knows the Camaro is a Chevy... the old guy I work with that isn't into cars.. knows the Camaro is a Chevy... Saying "Camaro by Chevrolet" isn't wrong. So, I don't see why couldn't it be done? Even if it is within the "DIC" shouldn't be too much to program that to display when you start the car. I don't know I just think it is a nice touch.

Well, then I guess this whole thread should be thrown out. Chevy sure as hell didnt make the Corvette, a specailized team of engineers and designers did, Chevy is just the "marketing brand" that they sell it under.
But by just putting that little "Camaro by Chevrolet" or "Corvette by Chevrolet" or any one of Chevy's cars, would be a cool little thing for Chevy cars to have.

Of course, Pontiac and Caddy seem to go to more of a total brand recognition with the alphanemerics, so they should have the badge flash up on the screen. I know Ive sat in a lot of the new GP's, and on that little DIC screen, it says "GRAND PRIX" with some sort of cool dot-matrix design thing behind it, and then a badge flashes.

Camaro by Chevrolet would be awesome.

 

I always liked those badges on my 68'.

 

I think it would be a great finishing touch...something on the info center that flashes up when you start the car, like maybe a bowtie, or a neat letter sequencing of the Camaro name.


...That and a door/ignition chime that doesn't sound like Vanna White turning letters on "Wheel of Fortune."

 

I wonder if this is because the design team is made up of older people. Back in the 80's and 90's, people would get "the gold package" on their cars. Gold colored badges, etc. People bought gold jewelery. That all now looks so lame, and out of style. Now, everyone wants white gold, platinum. My wedding ring is tungsten. My wife *HATES* the gold bowties, saying they look like an old man. I agree with her. Brushed nickel would look killer....

 

Its not GOLD gold, its more of a bronzey pewter now.

 

I feel kinda odd here for actually loving the bowtie...

 

you know the iroc-z's did not have a bowtie or chevrolet on them anywhere but the owners manual. people always recognize mine as being a camaro, so i think they could get away with not having a chevy badge on it.

i do like the back lit door sills that have the model name on them on some of the newer cars, and i think they would fit nicely on the new camaro.

 

One difference from the past is that GM has launched the Chevrolet brand globally. Other parts of the world don't have the brand recognition of the bowtie or the Chevy nameplate that the US does, and GM really wants to make sure that a Chevy looks like a Chevy, wherever it is.

Even within the US the market is significantly more crowded with lookalike-mobiles, so it makes sense to have the logo really stand out and be consistent across vehicles.

I don't necessarily want badges on a car, but it disturbing you see so many cars with no names. I just saw the new Taurus, and i didn't see a name anywhere on the front or side. I don't think the bowtie on the concept car , or other current chevy's look bad, but i do wonder what it would look like in chrome.

 

Thank you for assuring me I'm not alone! For me it's also the factor that far to few Chevys exist around here. But they have become more common and every time I see that bowtie I can't help but smile.
