Not that these weights or power levels are necessarily related to each other, but I just want to see where everyone's preference is on this.

It's no contest.
Less weight gets you better handling, better braking, better fuel economy AND better acceleration.
More weight and more HP only produces better acceleration (and more stress on drivetrain and suspension components).

I voted for the heavier car just to be contrarian.
The basic rule of thumb is 10lbs = 1 hp in terms of difference in acceleration. So the heavier car with 500 hp would have an effective 20hp advantage. Granted that's only in straight line acceleration...
