Camaro news tidbit
From PR Newswire:
"The Chevrolet Camaro is one of four finalists for the World Car Design of the Year, as selected by a jury of five design experts from around the world. The 59 World Car Awards jurors will now vote on the expert's design recommendations.
"It's rather humbling to be nominated for the best new design in the world," says Tom Peters, executive director, GM performance cars and full-size trucks. "The nomination is a tribute to the passion of many individuals who worked so hard to make the dream of the new Camaro come to life."
According to Yahoo!, Camaro was the most-searched vehicle in 2009. Camaro has also received the Popular Mechanics Automotive Excellence Award, and was named an All-Star by Automobile Magazine. Since its introduction in 2009, Camaro has outsold Mustang for seven straight months.

Just in case anyone was wondering the other finalists are
the Toyota (AHHHH I CAN'T STOP!!!) Prius
the Kia Soul
and the Citroen C3 Picasso
Seriously! That's the "design" competition?
I'll take the Camaro every time!

Make that 8 straight months...
January 2010 deliveries.
Camaro 5,371
Mustang 4,747
Challenger 1,683
Interesting design competition. Looks like they picked a car from Japan, South Korea, France and USA. Other than having 4 wheels and a steering wheel there isn't much alike among all 4.

Which is something you'd think that they would need to win a "Design" competition

by their standards the camaro should NOT be there. And not because the other 3 car look better... But because I don't want the camaro to be judged by people that find that the other 3 deserve a chance at winning...

Just reading their press release. http://www.wcoty.com/media/?release=52&year=2010
They mention the past few winners of this award that origionally debuted in 2004.
2009 Fiat 500,
2008 Audi R8
2007 Audi TT
2006 Citroen C4
There doesn't seem to be any kind of pattern to what kind of car wins the award each year.
I agree the Prius, Soul and C3 are all much more alike each other than they are with the Camaro. This means to me that the Camaro will either win easily or finish a distant 4th.
