I saw the 2010 at San Diego's Auto Expo.
I was very disappointed. I didn't get the "Oh WOW! I have to buy this car feeling.
I bet I'm not the only Camaro enthusiast who feels let down.
Let me tell you what I don't like about it.
1. The grill looks like it belongs on a truck. Vent slats too wide etc...
2. The shape of the tail lights look lame
3. The sides of the body look too much like the new Dodge Challenger, The car could have been more curvy.

I have currently own a 1967 Camaro and my first car was a 1968.
In my opinion, the 1967-1969's have much better looks than the new 2010.
They really stand out.

Speaking of the old body style, they really need to have an RS/SS version with the "Hideaway Headlights" Now that would look great.

I will not buy one until maybe they had something like that..

Then again I don't need one since I have my trusty 67..

It blows the doors off most vehicles out there....with that
I'm sure I'll be seeing a 2010 in my rearview sooner or later after they come out...

 

Geeze dude, they weren't trying to copy the 69 into the current time. They were making a brand new car with styling cues from the first gen.

Stick with your car, thats your choice. We are all going to jump to the new generation with or without you.

 

Sorry, but this a 2010 model not 1969.

You hav e every right not to like it but you have to understand they could not and should not steal the entire design from a past model.

It is kind of like your kids might look like you but will never be your twin.

 

I don't guess you'll ever be buying a new car then. It's not Chevy's decision not to include them, it's against DOT regulations for anything to obstruct the headlights. That's why you don't see pop-up headlights on the Corvette now.

 

I agree with your 1 and 2. The car doesn't look like a Challenger at all though. While your car might have 500HP and sound alot better, (real SBC or BBC) this is a modern car with alot more new tech overall. Even being heavy it should outperform, outhandle, and outbrake any non-heavily modded 1st Gen without effort. The hideaway headlights aren't possible anymore.

I'd like to see the huge bowties gone and the CAMARO EMBLEM back myself. They don't do this nonsense to the Corvette, the "regular" Chevys get it, so why do we have to deal with it? I hope there are different grills and different emblems. Spoilers too.

 

Wow, and I thought it was because the headlight motors are expensive and unreliable (like on my TA ). I guess you learn something new every day.

 

Are you sure about that?

I was always told the the pop-up headlamps were killed for other reasons:

1) Weight.

2) Reliability.

3) Packaging.

4) Better lighting.

 

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and I can see some of your logic, but I have to totally disagree with your item 3 about the Challenger. I like the Challenger, but it is almost totally slab sided below the character line. The Camaro is MUCH curvier and has considerably more detailing in the sheetmetal:

 

I believe you're right. Anything that obstructs the lamps - like the first generation RS covers that simply covered the bulbs - is illegal now. I don't think true popups are illegal, just out of favor for the reasons above.

 

The new Camaro will be the sexiest new car on the road next year, period.

 

I can imagine those were factors as well, but I had heard the DOT regulation was the reason that we won't get hide-aways on the Camaro and I also read on here that it's why the 'vette got beams. I could be wrong, but that's just what I've picked up through reading on here over the years.

 

If the car was more curvy then it would look more like the Challenger. Luckily the Camaro has its sharp edges to set it apart.

 

I just don't see where the comment about looking like a Chally' comes from. Maybe the silhouette is close, but the sheetmetal on Camaro is so much more chisled; moreso than a 1st. Gen., IMHO.

Nope. You can do pop-ups today. They were killed because of reliability.
