Not even close. Why buy a camaro when I can get a Mustang 5K cheaper? I can get a mustang GT for 26K (probably 24K now with incentives). GM won't release pricing until it's almost "time."

I think the designations are backward as well

GM has promised "competitive mustang pricing" which the prices above.... are not...

...maybe he was figuring in his extra 5K cut for the first few months?

isnt a mustang like 100hp less? and no, supposedly it was going to be this year but titles as 09's. "supposedly" he said that he was told this at some kind of dealer conference.

GM has already said that the Camaro will be released in Feb 2009 as a MY2010.

If that guy couldn't even get this right, make with it what you will with the rest of his "info".

If a statement begins, "A dealer told me...." take it w/ a grain of salt.

I have some serious issues with that information. In other words, I don't agree with much of it, and not just the prices.

That almost doesn't matter. The HIGHEST VOLUME sellers will be the V-6's. They NEED to be priced very close to a mustang. Also, mustang is getting a HP bump in 09 when the Camaro comes out (Ford isn't going to sit on their ***) and I highly doubt the base (SS) camaro V-8 will have 400hp, probably more like 360 like the G8. So with a HP bump from Ford and assuming a 360 horse camaro.... why pay 5K more for 30 or 40 hp?

+1 here. That's messed up. Tell your dealer to re check, double check - and then wait until they actually release info

nothing against you - I don't know why dealers tell people this stuff....

Interestingly I was looking at production numbers a few weeks back (from the Camaro White Book), and the V6 didn't become the volume seller until the 4th generation. However in its last year (2002) V8s actually outsold V6s.

My point is, V6s don't have to be the volume seller. With AFM and DI, a V8 can be just as efficient as a V6 was 10 years ago.

They're salesmen, they can't help themselves. It's like trying ask a shark why it eats baby seals.

I tried to find something "official" but I guess my googling skills are limited I could swear I've heard time and again V-6 mustang sales account for 2/3 of the sales. Mostly because of cost, cost of insurance, and the "chick factor." I think it would be GREAT if Camaro sales were 2/3 V-8, that would mean a cheaper V-8 car?
