I can guarantee you he was talking out of his @$$. Now Scott can prove me wrong of course, but my bet is that even GM themselves do not have pricing and content finalized yet. If I remember a thread with Scott a while back reguarding the Pontiac G8, he said content and pricing decisions aren't made untill the final 6-8 months prior to release date. We are still over a year.

GM didn't email this salesman with pricing, they didn't send him a spec sheet, and they didn't even hypothesize rough estimate numbers with him (and if they did, whoever did that from GM was himself talking nonsense)

No one - not even Bob Lutz or Rick Wagnoner - knows how much the Camaro will be yet.

Several times in the past I have pointed out that when my then 17 year-old stepson (now 21) was looking at cars we priced the insurance and found a V6 Mustang (95-96) to be $1000 more a year than a V8 Mustang GT.

Insurance is based on vehicle price and claims filed on similarly equipped cars. If more teens are buying and driving a V6 and crashing them, then the insurance for the same age group to insure them will be higher.

Anything is possible at this point.

I could see an argument for a base V6 Camaro, a L76 Type LT, a LS3 SS and a LS8 Z28. But then GM might want to simplify things.

The V6 has to compete with a price tag of $19,995.00 and it will lose every time if priced at 25k. Marketing and accounting wont let that happen. The info you got was wrong.

So lets recap,
The prices are COMPLETELY wrong!
The coupe is landing in showroom floors a bit earlier than Mar/Apr...
The convertible date is still September.

How am I doing so far?! That's great news b/c the sooner it hits, the closer I get to being able to purchase a the base V8 M6 coupe at MSRP!!!

By the way, I saw the interior shots of the CTS-V... wonder if the Camaro will have a similar pop-up nav as an option, but I'll still pass because of the extra $$.

Local dealer told me this week they didn't know pricing....but that they were already taking orders with down payments with the expectation that the buyers will be paying a minimum of $5,000 over full sticker price.

Folks I don't think GM can price a car that one is still a year away from sale and not even complete yet.

You can't price a car that still has some things that need sorted out.

Come back around November and they may have some accurate prices by them to release.

I wish people would learn to quite believing dealer sales staff. They are the most clueless bunch accept a few.

Political canidates and car salesman are the two kinds of people I would never quote.

the salesman who told me this stuff has been there since 1990 and im not saying that he is right or wrong, however I dont see why he would spark a conversation with me out of the blue about it, other than the fact that I have a fourth gen. and just b/c gm hasnt released info to the public doesnt mean anything. its just like the government. they tell you what they want you to know.

Just dealer talk and while I think they have great intentions this is just another car to sell to make a living. They don't worry about the details and try not to give a specific answers so they have fudge room.

well, I mean whatever, I didnt post this stuff to argue about it, I was just relaying what id heard. just like everyone is saying it is heresay, Ive not seen any documentation on it but he would be more likely to have a better idea about about things like that than alot of people on here who are just looking for a heated debate.

Stephen, is that the reason that my local Chevy dealer had absolutely no facts or literature several months ago, because they're likely to have more info than people here?? When I went in to talk to them they knew absolutely nothing except tell me I was welcome to put down a deposit on a car they knew nothing about, didn't know when it was going to be available, etc. I had in my hand a new Camaro brochure that Chevy had mailed me 30-60 days prior to my stopping at the dealer, they had no literature, so who knew more?? I'm sure the salesman told you exactly what you said he did, I'm also sure that he likely knows less at this point than we do on these forums. I'm not looking for a debate, just trying to point out reality.

Calling BS.

1. Most everyone here DOES know when the new Camaro will be out.
2. WHO said this guy was the top salesman in WV???!

No problem, people are supposed to share. The downside is that rumors get started when people read speculation as fact or the source is incorrect to begin with. Hard to avoid that sometimes, though.

Well, there is where you are mixing two different kinds of people together. First, I think it is safe to say that the people on this site have more accurate information about the car than anywhere else on the planet. We do have a few people here who like to argue. Again, hard to avoid that sometimes. They are easy to spot and usually get ignored anyway.

No worries, thanks for attempting to share. That's what the site is all about.

He's wrong. Sorry, but he is way off. Prices are wrong, time table is off a year, just all around wrong.
A simple "Wrong" or "No", lock the thread, and send a PM to this person telling him to read up on several GM docs stating launch date as well as other prudent info.
