camaro release info

Sorry I'm not wanting to give a hard time here but the truth is all the kinks are not worked out yet. They are still developing the car right now to meet the release date next year. If all the kinks were out we would have it now.
Also until all is worked out you can not price the car yet. Also market factors like future steel prices and other raw material prices will have to be factored closer to production. If steel cost rise this summer GM would have to toss all the prices out they have now. The swinging Oil prices also canand will be a factor in plastic cost.
GM does have target prices and we have all been made clear the Mustang price is the target of the Camaro by Scott may times.
Final pricing will be one of the last things they will do. It is just the way it works.

heheh this is funny. to the OP, don't let it get to you that all the responses have said the dealership's info is wrong. it's the dealership's fault, not yours.
so since GM has already said: Camaro is coming out 1Q of 09 as a 2010 model... and that the production car will likely be unveiled in September of 2008... and that it will be priced competitively with Mustang...
just ask yourself... why would it be hitting showrooms in April of 08 when the production car hasn't even been unveiled? and why would the prices be so high?
thanks, Scott.

Here's the deal on pricing.
Those of us in marketing want to sell the car for $19.95.
Those in the financial community want to sell the car for $5,000,000.
(OK -- so I'm exaggerating..........)
We set 'target pricing' as the car is developed....but the price keeps changing as the car proceeds thru development.........
Purchasing gets involved to get best pricing.........
........the bottom line is that we all put pads on -- go into a room with swords -- there is screaming -- gnashing of teeth -- insults fly -- people pull hair and poke out eyes ........
(there I go with the exaggerating again........)
Anyway -- the pricing doesn't actually become final until about 24 hours before we annouce the pricing...........
We want the new Camaro to be competitive -- and the target is Mustang.....pure and simple.

dear mr. fbodfather..i am not a camaro guy nor ever a chevrolet guy..my daughter has however fallen for the camaro..i am not sure of your job or wether you are a moderator on this site..you do seem to have some insite that appears to myself as being more factual then the others..i have some questions that i would like answers and you seem like the individual who can provide such information...i would like to know about what safety features the new camaro will have..i want to know about air bags..are side air bags even being considered?..is traction control an option?..what are the traffic crash results for a 35mph frontal impact?.etc....you see i am a father first and my daughters safety on the road is MY CONCERN...if chevrolet has not considered safety features involving the camaro to be top priority then i will look elsewhere..i have also pulled enuff kids dripping with blood out of cars and seen enuff kids ejected and the results thereof..i have also had to explain to mom and dad that their son/daughter will no longer be able to walk through the front door ever again.so you can see why my concern for safety is high and why i want to know what chevrolet has done to ensure every possible safety consideration involving the camaro..also i am a little concerned that the v6 being considered for the camaro may not be mizerly enough..what about a 4 cyclinder that can run on E85 and return decent mileage?..you see sir i am not even going to consider a high horsepower engine..i understand the need/desire for such an engine, but not when my daughter is the principle driver..this post is in no way to be considered/construed as a means to disrespect the camaro..it looks great!..i do however await your reply and will consider your comments accordingly..snooter

Thats because he use to be the Asst. brand Manager for Camaro/Firebird & Corvette.
So he does work for GM & is still highly part of the Camaro team.
He is also one of the KEWLest guys you would ever meet. (not trying to butter him up or anything like that) its because he is.
