Camaro Summit #2, ...my impressions (long)

Kevin, thanks for the great post.
I've got two concerns from what you've posted though.
This:
The interior, …I am 6’ 1”, …and there was PLENTY of leg room. I actually had to move the seat forward to comfortably push the clutch in.
And this:
Around back, ..the trunk, …it’s surprisingly huge
There are no free lunches, so to get all of that.... what sounds like, excess legroom, and huge trunk, is the 'ponycar' formula compromised? It sounds like you are describing a car more along the lines of a Monte Carlo, rather than a Camaro. That concerns me. Am I wrong in thinking that?

I hope this: The back seat, …let’s face it, it’s fine for kids or car seats, …but not for someone 6’ tall. is not a bad as it sounds or that will be the end for me. We are in need of a 4 seater and I was hoping the new 5th gen would fit that bill. Oh Well I'll still wait to see for myself. Dang!
As with just about any 2-door, 4-seater, short trips will probably be fine. A road trip in the back seat of just about any car is tough no matter how many doors are available!

i hate that. i like to be close to the wheel and pedals but i find modern cars that do that make the driving position awful. my mustang did it as well as an audi S5 i sat in.
does the driving position feel like a 4th gen or more mustang?

That is the basic problem with after event reports, when the participants are under a strict NDA. I am not slamming them, nor am I criticizing GM. Bottom line is they can say nothing of substance, so all we are left with is "Great Car, great event, great people, thanks GM!"
Again, I understand they CANNOT say much more. Which is why, with all do respect to those who were lucky enough to go, these posts are pretty much worthless to everyone who wasn't there.

One thing I have not seen answered, let alone asked... And hopefully you'll be able to shed some light on it... Can you see the front of the hood...? I'm sure anyone who owns or has driven a 4th gen knows what I'm talking about...

We are "car" people, so if anything, it should make folks optimistic GM is about to put forth a vehicle that will readily compete for best in class.

Chris et al,
Like I said, I am not criticizing you guys (and gals), I am merely pointing out that alot of "nothing" has been said. In all honesty, I fully expected your reactions to be what they are. However, the real questions that will determine whether I buy this car or not cannot be answered until the actual specs are released.

Yes you can. This is a big one for me because my wife hates driving the 4th gen but loves the Solstice, and a big part of that is seeing where the hood is going!

This is a good thing. Hopefully ingress & egress are improved too. I hated "falling in" and "climbing out" of my 99 T/A, vice getting in and getting out of my 99 Cobra.
91Z28350....unfortunately, I concur. But sometimes we do get into some interesting conversations at the end of these things.
