Yep, and it is not easy saying nothing. I keep remembering cool things to say, but I just can't.

We are sorta doing whatever we can to give our best impression of things without leaking facts. It isn't easy, trust me.

It won't be long where everything is out there, and we will all find out what opinions we share.

I realize that part of the Mustang's sales success (and the 4th-gen's demise) is due, in part, to the "daily drivability" of the car. And I know that the Mustang has an "upright" seating position, while the Camaro had the "low slung" position (more Corvette-like, really).

Apparently "the people" prefer upright. I, myself, as well as 97z28/m6 obviously, much prefer the low slung feeling of the 4th-gen (well, that, and the 3rd-gens, 2nd-gens .....)

But I guess we'll have to learn to like it?

 

i hope its just not as bad as the mustang. my main issue with mine was the seat was too high. if it was even an inch lower it would be tons better but the door height determined the seat height as you'd never be able to see out of it if it was any lower.

 

I want to feel like I'm sitting in the seat. I drove an '01 Mach 1, and it felt like I was sitting on the seat, much like it does in most non-performance-oriented cars.

In my Camaro, it feels like I'm in the seat.

Should I be worried?

 

I kinda figured that the seating was more upright than the 4th Gens just by looking at the car and that it seemed to be a complaint made by all whom didn't like the 4th Gen. I on the other hand loved the Vette type low slung feel of the 4th Gen.

For those of us who liked the scapping butt feel of the 4th gen the only thing I can hope far in Gen 5 is that the car will sit lower than say the Mustang and Challenger.

Indeed, ...there are personal preferences (that's obvious), and I also believe it's obvious GM made an effort to make the 5th gen easier to get in and out of.
I'll add here, ...I like the 'low slung' feel of my 4th gen, ...the seats aren't as supportive as I would like, ...but I wouldn't mind if it was a little easier to get in and out of the car.
With 'my' preferences stated, ...I really liked the feel of the 5th gen. The car was easier to get in/out of, ...the seats definitely did not feel too upright at all (it clearly felt you were sitting IN the seat, not on them) ...and the seats themselves were excellent (with adj. headrests).
I feel they 'tweaked' things just enough to make it a tad more upright, ...yet not take away from that 'cockpit' seat feel. I truely think most will be pleased with it...

 

Kevin, have you driven (or at least sat in) an '05+ Mustang? If so, how would you compare its seating position to the 5th-gen? I think that would be the most accurate comparison. If it's somewhere in between the Mustang feel, and the 4th-gen feel, at least that would be a "fair compromise"?

 

I agree. I really liked the 4th gen seating position. I have sat in a few Mustangs (nothing recent) and wasn't used to how upright they felt and was uncomfortable. I am sure I would get used to it, but it wasn't like my 4th gen.

The new Camaro seemed to be a good compromise between the both. I would still prefer the 4th gen feel, but sacrificing some of the the "low-slung" style while making it easier to get in and out is a small price to pay. I felt pretty comfortable overall, I liked the seats for the most part.

 

how would you compare getting in and out and sitting in the 5th Gen to a C6?

I'm going to say that I'd rather have the thirdgen seating position than the GTO seating position (which I assume is close to the F5 position from the comments)... but I'd rather have the GTO seats than the 3rd (or 4th) gen seats. I guess I'll find out soon enough how well the two come together.
